Cinnamon
We have to do a trip to Liverpool (the surrounding area, anyhow) in a couple of weeks & fancy making it an overnighter. Neither of us have been to this part of the UK before. We would love to stay somewhere pretty, in the country or a small town - just somewhere nice really - anyone got any recommendations of nice towns up that way? Charlottechicken
Is Chester too far to stay? I don't know the area at all but have always fancied going to Chester, lots of black and white buildings and nice shops
Patricia W
Chester is lovely, although Liverpool is a very interesting place to visit too. Lots of hotels in the centre, and welcoming people.
bluekarin
I don't know of anywhere, but after a quick look, this one looks nice http://thevincenthotel.com It has good reviews on trip advisor as well.
chickencam
I would recommend Chester too, I lived there for a year, worked there for two and OH and I did all of our courting there Easy road links to and from Liverpool and the Wirral. If you like ice cream, you could take trip to Parkgate on the Wirral they have a fab ice cream shop, it used to be a seaside destination famous for its shrimps but the river is silted up and just green grass now. They did have the water back recently though with the storms. Southport is worth a visit not too far in the other direction, Liverpool itself is a nice city with good shops and the dock areas are worth a visit as is a trip on the Mersey ferry. The Wirral is attractive in parts especially Port Sunlight, I would have thought that there must be hotels and guest houses there actually. It was built by Lord Leverhulme for the workers in his soap factory and is lovely it also has the Lady Lever art gallery which is interesting for a mooch. redhotchick
I am very curious as to roughly where you will have to be! Let me know and I'll have a think about nice places nearby. Chester is lovely, but depending on exactly where you need to be it could be quite a distance! PS. I am in L31
Cinnamon
Not a clue yet - all I know is that we have to pick the windows up from outer Liverpool, then we will be looking for somewhere to stop over, but I do ant to book it in advance. Distance isn't too much of a problem - we will be driving from Henley to Liverpool, then home again the following day anyhow, so another few miles won't hurt!
