Ladylucan
They are so beautiful, i too have baby polands who at the mo are 11 weeks old. i have the Chamois variety but they are just so sweet. ( love the extended run) ( as for the piccys you need to highlight and copy the jpg file bit if that makes sense.)
sparkleeeeee
oh i saw a chamios poland cock today he was beautiful, do you have some photos of yours? i just fell in love with their fluffy hats mine are only 6 weeks and only just gone out. they are snuggled up with iggle and piggle in the eglu at the moment. i have had to put straw in the eglu on the bars as none of them want to sit on the bars they were all in the nesting bit so i have given them more room to sleep. i was tempted with the orpingtons she had they were really lovely but they were huge!! Ladylucan
They are so beautiful, but the black and white ones amaze me, how do the colours know to seperate if you get my drift. x
Snowy
They are lovely Sparkleee! But what are you going to call them - Tombley and Boo by any chance??
Ladylucan
Sorry SParkleeeeeee forgot to ask how old they are, ?, did you put them straight in with your other two?, and did they get on ok?, I need to trim a couple of their hairdoos as they are completely covering their eyes, Wish i had got a couple of the black ones as well, they are lovely x
sparkleeeeee
they are 6 weeks and i put them in with the norfolk grey who are 10 weeks and there was alot of staring and pacing around at first but they cuddled up in the eglu together and they are wondering around together in the run. ladylucan yours are beautiful what a lovely colour!! were yours sexed? as its hard to tell at 6 weeks but she said that they will have longer bits from their hairdoo, especially at the back and it will part instead of being a round bush if they are cocks. she was a lovely young lady living in a beautiful old house. she thinks they are girls but its hard to tell at this stage, i can exchange them if they are cocks. i would be scared to trim their hair just incase i didnt notice the differences, my neighbours would not be happy!! i already have a noisy leghorn because there are baby birds in the hedge, my leghorns might be moving in with my dad and stepmum. snowy we havent decided on a name yet tombley and boo sounds great, could you tell my kids love 'in the night garden'? i wanted a theme and we were watching the night garden one evening and my little boy was getting really excited at the characters and calling out their names so i decided to make 'in the night garden' my theme. i have still got ninky nonk and pinky ponk to go so i can still have some more chooks
Ladylucan
I actually bought them as eggs of ebay... as i had two broody bantams, they sat on them and i managed to get 5 out of the 6 eggs, They still havent been sexed yet as i still cant tell the difference, but they are just starting to go through their moult so will have to wait till then to find out. Really at the moment they all look alike, there isnt a striking difference which makes it really hard. I did add a couple of 7 week old leghorns to them on sunday and they all seem to be coping very well ( at the moment) though time will tell. sparkleeeeee
thats really good five out of six eggs, how wonderful!!. i hope they are all girls for you. the adults i saw were only slightly smaller than my cream legbars and apparently they lay a good size egg but not in the winter which is ok as i will have loads of eggs by then (i hope). the lady i bought them off at fritton poultry had loads of lovely birds i could have bought loads if i had the room. i might need to save for a cube so i can have some of her orpingtons they were really nice but rather big for the eglu. The Dogmother
Love the climbing frame and the chooks You need a photobucket account if you want to put pix in a post - the new version of the gallery won't do it
sparkleeeeee
oh..thats why!!!...i might investigate photobucket tomorrow if i get time. i am still working on the climbing frame and i am building a fairy den below the highest tower at the moment. i bought a whole load of new butterflies from the carboot a couple of weeks ago for a pound the lot, they are kind of christmas decorations gold metal, mesh and beads, but will hopefully look really good inside. i have borded in two sides and put a wire mesh pannel on one side which i will be putting waterproof fabric on the outside of (hopefully in red) so there will be a red light comming through and i will hang all the butterflies and fairies (which i had in the playroom). i think i might put a bench and the wooden dolls house in(if i can make it watertight). i also am going to make a swing arm next week. i bought a couple of steering wheels from B&Q today which i will fit tomorrow and they have a great plastic telescope but it was almost £20 so i thought i would keep my eye on e-bay. oh dilly........... i looked iggle and piggle and thought they needed some friends, especially as they now have an extension on their run. i thought the polands were so cute, who could resist? my little boy decided to call them ninky and nonk. ninky is a very active little girl and eats loads of the s"Ooops, word censored!"s we put in but i have been worried about nonk as i didnt see her eat or drink yesterday. i put some food and water in the eglu but she just sat there and i thought i might lose her. i tried putting the end of her beak in the water and she started drinking then she got a load of energy and started wondering around eating. i was so relieved!!! she had gone quiet again this evening but she might just be tired so i will see how she is tomorrow. when i shut the eglu door just as it got dark all four of them were snuggled up in the nesting box. the poland make a lovely little noise like a little songbird snoring. it was so cute

ali-s
She is this years hatch, but not sure of the exact age. Must ask tomorrow. The breeder said she probably will not lay until next Spring. I will post pictures tomorrow if I can find the charger for the camera. Natalie has already chosen a name....Freckle because Chamis Polands look like they have freckles
sparkleeeeee
we lost one of our polands this morning, i am not sure what exactly happened to her but somehow she broke her neck in the eglu. last night i shut the door and checked in the eggport, they were all snuggled up making that lovely snoring birdy sound. this morning when i went to let them out iggle, piggle and ninky came shooting out so i opend the eggport door and nonk was squashed in the nesting box. at first she looked dead, then i noticed she was still alive and kind of gasping. her neck looked broken and she died soon afterwards. ninky has spent the day calling loudly, she has been eating and drinking and has gone to bed with the others. i am really worried what i might find in the morning. i am sure it was an accident, she just happened to have been stood on in the wrong place and i know its just life but it is so sad!! Snowy
Oh no Sparkleee! How sad! You said that she didn't appear as well as Ninky when you first got them though, and their necks can go very limp and weak when they are ill, so maybe it wasn't broken just weak as she was on her way out.
