Chickabee
The omlet WIR covers don't meet in the middle so don't really provide enough cover. Anyone have any alternative ideas for clear waterproof cover, or shall I just buy another omlet one and overlap them
bellekatz
I have used these for chicken runs and cat runs! http://www.tarpaflex.co.uk/acatalog/Mono_Cover_Tarpaulins_-_Clear.html Our small cat run, which was our chicken run several years ago has had the same one on now for about 6 years and it doesn't have a rip at all. WE just bought some new ones to go round our second run and they arrived speedily as long as they are in stock.
Chickabee
They look brilliant, and not overpriced. Think I'll pre order one. Thanks
chuckmum6
I have used tarpaflex too, they are stronger than the Omlet ones and have strong reinforced edges. My WIR has these battened on the sides, in the past my cube run was covered with these and gave excellent protection. They currently have 5% off the glass tarps which is what I use - tempted to buy some myself. Edited June 7, 2014 by Guest
Chickabee
What size did you get? I was thinking of getting it big so it can go down the sides
chuckmum6
I have several 2 x 2.4, did have a longer one when the cube train was 5m long http://www.tarpaflex.co.uk/acatalog/Glass-Clear-Tarpaulin-2m-x-2-4m-GPVC1.html These one does give good cover down the sides of the cube, for Omlet's WIR I would just check the measurements against the run first. Sadly they have a lot of sizes out of stock, might be worth ringing them though.
LunaKiw1
We have an Omlet WIR and use a Tarpaflex 2m x 6m one across the top and down both sides, held in place with bungees/cable ties through the eyelet holes in the edges. We also have one that is 2m x 2.4 across the back with the bottom bit trimmed. It's easy to roll the sides up/down according to the weather and hold in place with the bungees. They last well although get a bitdirty; however, a scrub each spring works wonders. Highly recommend Tarpaflex for both prices, speed of delivery and for a product that is just right! Chickabee
New cover in situ. Very pleased
LunaKiw1
Looking good! And some happy ladies in there. I can't understand why Omlet don't do a cover wide enough to span the width of the roof as it is obvious that using 2 x their 1m size ones will leave a drippy gap! Chickabee
I know it's mad. If you use a hanging feeder from the hook they provide, the food gets wet, then my girls won't eat it
bellekatz
That was quick!!
Chickabee
I had to get it from amazon, as tarpeflex had none in stock. Unfortunately when I want something I don't like to hang around. As soon as I got it I couldn't unwrap it fast enough. That bloomin tarpaulin is really hard to pull apart when it's folded, but I was determined
LunaKiw1
I know exactly what you mean about it being hard to unfold initially! Leaving it in the sun to warm kaes it goes more flexible.
