My latest cube nestbox modification

Recommended Posts

My girls don't like sharing the nestbox so my dad had made them a wooden divider. They loved this arrangement, but so did the redmite. Whilst discussing options we came up with this one.. The seal of approval is yet to be made: if Lemon likes it I'm sure everyone else will! (she once threw a strop with lots of stamping around and moaning just because I was cleaning the cube and she wanted to sit in the nest - even though she had already laid that day!)

Very cosy :) - we've got plenty of shallow ones too as part of the wood divider system described above. Trouble was they used to stand on the side and tip them up whilst trying to get out. These ones are 15l size so same footprint as the low ones but hopefully give a measure of privacy they seem to want.

Oh Paula do please keep us updated!!!!! I have tried without success to modify mine, but flatly refuse to use any wood (I had redmite pre-cube!!!) My pekin madams are a nightmare as usual. I do so wish omlet would to an alternative nest box kit for the cube!!!!!!!

P.S Mr Max is maturing nicely  But he didn't solve my bad bully problem  So evil Polly is the lone resident of the classic.....but does free range with the others everyday :D Seems to work for the mo.......but not sure about the winter
