Shirl
Hi I picked up 3 beautiful pekin bantams yesterday and am just wondering if there are any garden plants that are poisonous to chickens? Mine have been wandering around eating all sorts in the garden today and I couldn't help worrying about what they're eating. I've read they shouldn't have raw potato but is there a nything else they shouldn't be having? Also I've read you shouldn't give them treats until the afternoon. Doea gthat mean they shouldn't be let out of the run until the afternoon? Sorry I thought I'd read loads but then realisd I still know nothing

Couperwife
Ours seem to be pretty clued up on what to eat and what not to eat. one of them found a raw potato in the ground the other day (dont know where she got it from) and she just threw it away. one of the brown ones seems to be adicted to potatoe plant leaves, no matter what we do to stop her getting near them, she always manages (its dead funny to see her jumping up and down ) she seems healthy enough though. well done for getting nice new chooks, do you have any photos yet???? Shirl
Blimey I don't know what most of those are! I think I need to start finding out what plants I've got in my garden. I think I'll have to restrict their range until I've done my research. Thanks
Shirl
No photos yet. DS2 has been minding them and he's normally just in boxer shorts (he's 18 ). Wouldn't make for good photos
Laura & CTB
Ours seem to be pretty clued up on what to eat and what not to eat. Same here - although I notice ivy is on the list - mine have been eating it since they arrived last September with no ill effects.
