Short Fuse For The Summer

Recommended Posts

I collected the boys from school at 1.00pm - by the time we had diddled about wishing every one a happy holiday etc, got back to the car, got home, put the car away and had a snack etc it was 1.45pm. At 1.56pm precisely ES hit YS as ES did not want to share the wooden pirate ship. Exit ES to bedroom with my wrath ringing in his ears as I comforted YS who had a big red mark on his face

What the heck - only 6 weeks and 2 days to go - goodness knows how many more 'stress highlights' I will have by 4th September! OH usually takes week off...not that we go away but it helps take the pressure off me a bit but no such luck this hol as he has been told no time off at all as he has 5 new starters to train

Happy Holidays, everyone!

I used to find that after a couple of weeks they all mellowed and we started to function like a unit. By the end of the holidays we were so relaxed and I hated the thought of us being back to normal with school routines dictating everything. That was a factor in my decision to pull them out of school education.

Also, I used to fill a cardboard box in the weeks leading up to the holiday. I'd get summer garden toys, cheap stuff from pound shops, all sorts of silly little things and give it to them on the first day of the holiday. That worked very well and we also spent the time doing 'dangerous' experiments. ES made a rocket launcher with pringle pots and dug a trench to fire it from. It was brilliant and we lost a lot of tennis balls.

One week in and my house looks like a cross between an explosion in a Lego factory and a jumble sale  Every time the hoover comes out I hear the ching, ching of yet more Lego being sucked up - wretched stuff is invisible until you hoover it up or step on it. No wonder its called Lego as its perfectly possible to break your leg falling over it. I looked round the sitting room just now and was sure we had had a blue and cream carpet when the hols started ......now its a textured red, yellow and blue!

How is everyone else coping!!?? (Prob better then me!!!:roll: )

Annnnnnnd.......breathe..............
