Should chickens have homemade icepops ?

Recommended Posts

I read on here that someone made some raspberry and mint icepops for their chickens.

I made mine some apple and mint ones but haven't given them to them yet because I was worried about giving animals cold things to eat.

I have read that pets shouldn't be given cold things out of the fridge because it is too cold for their tummies and could make them ill so I didn't know if it was the same for frozen items and chickens ?

Hi - I posted the idea about the lollies and please don't worry, they are fine. Mind are so slow at pecking it off it's melting like mad anyway! It probably doesn't do that much to cool them off but if makes me feel like I'm doing something to help them in this heat! Although apparently mint leaves are a natural temperature reducer so you never know.

Hi Sue-chick, I thought it was your idea :D

It was a very good one.

I didn't have any raspberries at the time so made them with grated apple and some chopped mint.

They seem to be enjoying it today for the first time - although they seem to prefer the melted puddle in the bowl I have put underneath it

I was trying to think what other flavours they might like
