Space Chick
I've been reading a lot about the benefits of juicing for diabetics. It's not a juice only diet, unlike some juicing I have heard about, rather you add a more veg, less fruit juice to your day. I'm planning on having it in the mornings first thing, but as my juicer arrived today, I had one lunchtime. Beetroot and courgette both from the allotment and an organic gala apple. It was surprisingly tasty and quite filling The hens were delighted with the pulp too Am looking forward to experimenting with it
Valkyrie
We love pineapple juice - so yummy. I'm not a fan of pineapple juice in cartons even though we get the non concentrated ones, but fresh is totally different. Not doing veg in ours though, but we've had some interesting mixes of berries, melons, pears, mangoes and all sorts.
chickencam
Maybe I should rescue my juicer from the back of the cupboard and have a go.
Space Chick
I've had two juices today... One for breakfast.... Carrot, celery, ginger and apple. (Although I did follow it with a coffee and a bacon and fried egg sandwich ) One for lunch..... Courgette, kale, apple and blackberries (and I didn't pay for a single ingredient... Courgette, kale, apple were from the allotment, blackberries were picked from the woods ) Going well so far, I'm really enjoying it I've seen a recipe for a carrot, apple and cinnamon one which I may try tomorrow morning Although I do have lots of celery and beetroot to use too, and have harvested my first pears and plums from our trees in the garden
Lavenders_Blue
Ditto Chickencam I went mad with my juicer when I first got it, but I can't remember the last time it saw the light of day I really should dig it out again as the juices are lovely and so good for you being freshly juiced. Carrot, apple and Ginger is gorgeous as is anything with pears. I agree that beetroot is delicious too, they are surprisingly sweet.

kinsk
Juicing is great but don't forget you are missing out on all the fibre from the pulp the hens love, so really you are just getting the sugar from the fruit and veg and not the stuff that helps regulate the way the body absorbs it, which is quite important if you are diabetic. HarrisonFamily
I remember making a broccoli based one and it sent me hyper I was so full of energy - tasted yuck though, beetroot also made a great looking halloween drink...I have to be so careful, chocolate boost bars keep me up for days and I was banned from drinking kiaora orange squash as I was like a hyper toddler (even though I was in my 20's working in an office !!!!) Juicing is great but I do not do so often as running out of time and I hate washing it up....
