pinkkat
Finally, my three tatty ex-batts arrived on saturday, hurrah! I have had an empty chicken house since April cos the first rescue I registered for was cancelled. I am a first-time chicken mum, so didn't know what to expect. For ex-batts they are in pretty good condition - not many feathers, but they can all stand, flap about, and are eating and drinking fine. We clipped their nails tonight as Scarlet's in particular were cripplingly long. Aren't they lovely? The pictures are a bit weeny - I will try photobucket tomorrow! http://club.omlet.co.uk/gallery/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=16109&g2_serialNumber=2 http://club.omlet.co.uk/gallery/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=16111&g2_serialNumber=2 http://club.omlet.co.uk/gallery/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=16113&g2_serialNumber=2 http://club.omlet.co.uk/gallery/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=16115&g2_serialNumber=2 Edited August 13, 2007 by Guest

pinkkat
My two greyhounds (Oz and Gypsy) are acting a bit homicidal towards the chooks - I hope once the novelty wears off they will calm down. The chickens don't seem bothered - Mango pecked Oz on the nose when he got too close to the mesh. Considering their history, they are learning really quickly. I crawled in to the run the first night to put them through the pop hole so they knew how to go to bed. You'd have thought I was murdering them the fuss they made ! The second night Posey put herself to bed, and Scarlet followed once I put a torch in the bedroom. Mango then wandered around the run singing mornfully like a Mogwai, looking for the others and trying to perch on the grub . I took pity on her and helped her up the ladder, so hopefully she'll remember tonight. We had two more eggs yesterday, so if we get another couple today, it's eggs for tea, hurrah!
