Kim Gardner
I so glad that I'm not the only one who was completely terrified of Daleks!Even now they give me the creeps. We used to hoilday at Hayling Island in the 70's and they had a red Dalek you could sit in and it went round.I would do anything not to go near it!! My sister and I had pet hamsters called Charley Farley and Pigglet Malone!
Blackrat
Those links I posted to the old theme tunes are now working (I think) Give them a go and let me know what you think. Stuart
Mrs Frugal
Can't get them to work Stuart but then again, it might just be me in technophobe mode. Anyone else got to listen to them? I can remember Joe 90 and Champion the Wonder Horse though, without a listen .
motherhen
All worked brilliantly - thanks for the memories Stuart I remember a Greenbelt festival in the 80's - the act due on was late so they played Fireball XL5, Stingray, Thunderbirds etc - went down very well - best bit of the festival music actually. Emma
Decided to have some 'me ' time and spend it looking through old topics on the forum, and all I have to say here is: "What are we having for dinner today? Sawdust and hay. Sawdust and hay"
Popcorn
Emma - can you explain please!! Went over my head that one
Sheilaz
Gina, it has to be squeaked in the voices of the Woodentop twins, is that right Emma? Gina, it was in the days of black & white television.... So they tell me
Lesley
Well I don't remember and I know nothing about Spotty the dog
Emma
It was indeed the Woodentop twins. My absolute fave kids prog ever. I loved baby woodentop who used to sit on the draining board whilst mummy woodentop did the washing with an old fashioned wash board. And it's not Spotty THE dog but simply Spotty Dog. Why do you never see repeats of this prog
Sheilaz
Woodentops were always my favourite though Sorry Lesley, a good try but I just didn't fall for it! I do remember when BBC 2 was introduced, some people thought there were too many channels! And a girl at school, renowned for her fibs, said she already had BBC 1,2,3 & 4! Just 40 years ahead of her time!
Cate in NZ
My absolute fave programme when I was very small was about a little girl who had a big flower on the front of her dress and whenever she got into s"Ooops, word censored!"es she just had to rub the flower and make a wish and everything would be ok. I seem to think that she might have been called Lizzie, but that's really hazy now. But no one else seems to remember it . It must have been 35-40 years ago- does anyone else remember it at all? Whenever I do this kind of reminiscence thing I think people imagine I've made her up, but I'm sure I remember it . Sometime between Trumpton, Camberwick Green & Hectors House era's. I need someone just to post yes, then I can wave it at my sister
Sheilaz
Kate A, you're nearly as old as me then! Yes, I used to watch it too..Busy Lizzie? You're right, not many people seem to remember that one but my brother & I loved it. I have a "Watch with Mother" compilation tape & I think its on there, but we haven't even watched that for about 6 years.
Cate in NZ
Thank you Sheila, I knew I wasn't imagining it. Busy Lizzie sounds about right Now I'm off to google 'Watch with Mother'
Cate in NZ
I was just thinking, I basically based my career on a childrens TV programme When I was probably in my very early teens Blue Peter sent Lesley Judd to work as a nurse at St Bartholomews Hospital, London. Maybe 10 years later I left home, travelled south to London and did the exact same thing. She did it for perhaps a day, I've been in the NHS for over 20yrs now (but desperately looking for a way out!) I always planned to leave London after I'd done my training and go back to the North West where I originate from, but met hubby very early on and the rest is history. Still here Thanks Lesley . If only I'd got into "The Good Life" it might have been a very different story.... I wish.
Mrs Frugal
I remember watching that Blue Peter episode, Kate, but I'd already got nursing cemented into my mind from when I was knee high to a grasshopper! I also grew up watching The Good Life and I blame that for a lot of the Crazy that's in this Kate .
Popcorn
Gina, it was in the days of black & white television.... So they tell me Ha Ha - I grew up on Andy Pandy and Bagpuss, although you made me laugh Sheila, as I used to ask my Dad what it was like living in a 'black and white' world in the olden days. Cate in NZ
I am so excited- I googled Bizzy Lizzy, and found her! Shown as part of Watch with Mother, 13 episodes from April '67. That's probably why little sisters can't remember her, they were only born '66 & '68. In '67 I was pre-school so was probably prime audience for that kind of programme. And sadly that was black & white TV too
Mrs Frugal
Never watched The Prisoner but I loved The Goodies and Dr Who - except for The Green Death episode - still too scared to watch that one again !
Lesley
Dan, you'll have to get chatting to my OH - he's a great Dr.Who fan. He went, on his own, to see Tom Baker at a convention in London when he (OH) was 14. He has a collection of Daleks (and others) all still in their boxes, hundreds of books and an original scarf. Nicola H
OOooh, Space Dust! I remember that!! Tingle, tingle, pop, pop, tingle, pop, fizzzzzz.............
