Egluntyne
A colleague thought she would give it a try and got just short of £2k back. I've no idea whether I am due any? Has anyone else been successful?
percy049
My mum received about £1,500 5 years ago from it
Charlottechicken
I've never bothered because I didn't think I'd ever paid for it However, I might have been duped into some small payments by a catalogue over 15 years or so ago, but don't have any paperwork so wouldn't know how to go about claiming anyway. As it was a charge added on to the amount you pay back on what you've bought, I remember settling the bill quickly because I thought it was cheeky of them. I no longer buy from catalogues, I hasten to add Well done to anyone who manages to get something back though.
Chucky Mama
We claimed and got something right at the beginning. Can't remember how much though.
The Dogmother
I claimed the PPI back on my one credit card; got a tidy sum and it was painless.

PixieDust
My OH used to run his own business and he got back just over £10K as he paid ppi on all his business loans. It was illegal to charge him on a business account so he got it all back. However, initially the bank investigated and said he wasn't owed anything. I told him to go to the ombudsman, which he couldn't be bothered to do at first, but a year later several refunds were made to his account. It will take time and you don't need to remember all your account details. The ombudsman will force the banks hand. Don't be fobbed off. Good luck. gavclojak
I was told I had paid PPI on car finance many years ago, when I made a claim they told ME no PPI a was paid but I might ask them to look at it again as I'm sure I did pay it. Cinnamon
I have no idea if I am due anything back or not either, but would like to know how to find out..... I did get all of the money I paid to CPP (card protection plan) back earlier this year
Snowy
We had a loan that we paid off a few years ago. Hubby wrote them the standard letter requesting it back as they had told us we couldn't have the loan without the P PI. Got a cheque for £18,000! They have to pay you interest on everything they took off you! To say we were gobsmacked is an understatement! We have now been through our paperwork and written to every company or credit card that we had to pay some form of insurance on. Some I didn't even realise was P PI! Some have been turned down, but have now gone to the ombudsman. Go for it, you have nothing to lose and sometimes quite a lot to gain
