Anyone claimed PPI?

Recommended Posts

I've never bothered because I didn't think I'd ever paid for it :? However, I might have been duped into some small payments by a catalogue over 15 years or so ago, but don't have any paperwork so wouldn't know how to go about claiming anyway. As it was a charge added on to the amount you pay back on what you've bought, I remember settling the bill quickly because I thought it was cheeky of them. I no longer buy from catalogues, I hasten to add

Well done to anyone who manages to get something back though.

My OH used to run his own business and he got back just over £10K as he paid ppi on all his business loans. It was illegal to charge him on a business account so he got it all back. However, initially the bank investigated and said he wasn't owed anything. I told him to go to the ombudsman, which he couldn't be bothered to do at first, but a year later several refunds were made to his account.

It will take time and you don't need to remember all your account details. The ombudsman will force the banks hand. Don't be fobbed off. Good luck.

We had a loan that we paid off a few years ago. Hubby wrote them the standard letter requesting it back as they had told us we couldn't have the loan without the P PI. Got a cheque for £18,000! They have to pay you interest on everything they took off you! To say we were gobsmacked is an understatement! 8) We have now been through our paperwork and written to every company or credit card that we had to pay some form of insurance on. Some I didn't even realise was P PI! Some have been turned down, but have now gone to the ombudsman. Go for it, you have nothing to lose and sometimes quite a lot to gain :D
