The Dogmother
We get a real tree every year (I love the look and the smell). Our council operates a collection about 2 weeks after Christmas, if you leave it out in the front garden, it is taken away for you - Brilliant! Mrs Frugal
Our council are rubbish at recycling. I think the trees left out on the street just end up in the back of the bin van so that's another reason for us not having a real one. Those of you who do recycle your trees, that's fab. An excellent way of paying nature back .
Fleata
hi all Kaite- i wasnt being judgemental at all. and my statement about finding like minded people who take the enviroment seriously was meant to everyone on the forum, who think about the consequences for the envoronment, whether you buy real or not. sorry if it came across that way,
Mel (& Paul)
We have a fake one. When we got married we bought a little one in a pot - and we did all the right things, bringing it in slowly to the warmth, and, after Christmas moving it slowly back outside. We decided the tree would be a symbol of our marriage - as the tree grew so would our love. It died after 3 years ,....... (luckily we are still happily married after 16 years!) Louise
My ex always made me have a real one but it was me that had to put up with the mess so 3 years ago I got a fake one small act of defiance but I enjoyed it I now have a lovely looking tree with no needles dropped everywhere and if I want the smell I will use some pine essential oil in a burner to give the full effect
Mel (& Paul)
That's not a bad idea I am burning the Culpeppers Christmas oil at the moment - all orangy and clovey and nutmeggy yum yum!

Mrs Frugal
I went on a search for the perfect Christmas smell a few years ago. Tried all sorts of oils and candles etc and the Culpeper's one was THE smell of Christmas! Delicious! I've got their pot pourri with frankincense and myrrh near the fire and it's mmmmmmmmm! Mel (& Paul)
And when do people put their trees up? A friend of mine puts hers up on 1st December. I always think I am going to do it just before Christmas, but then have a panic about how many other things I have to do, and put it up sooner

Louise
Trust me Mel you don't want me singing. I will probably be swearing at the cats as they race around the room batting baubles. They have so many toys so what is it about Christmas baubles I have a load of Ikea plastic ones I put on the bottom of the tree so they wont hurt themselves
