Fab that all travel went well and mum is chuffed with her new chooks! if I lived down south my Christmas list would be all chooks next year but.....

Hooray!!! Figured out how to get the address from the app. Above pic is the little pen they had in the garage. This is taken immediately after the girls arrived and they're both still in the cat box.

 

Photo below is dark because I didn't want to upset them with the flash but you can see the Sussex has got out to sleep on top of the cat box. The speckledy stayed inside.

 

AAaaahhhhh. Now the app has stopped working. Will post the dark picture another time.

 

Anyway, the girls have been named Santa and Claus and except for Claus getting out of the run and disappearing for 24 hours (we think she slept in the hedge the first night but came back next afternoon for afternoon treats!) they all put themselves to bed now and seem to be settling in very well.

Quick update - girls have settled in well and are 2nd and bottom in the pecking order. Best of all one of them (not sure which) laid her first this week

 

And they're going to be treated to a new house soon. Lucky girls.

I know! I should have kept the Christmas chickens - mine still aren't laying either! My mum did give me some of her eggs though.

If it's any comfort luvachicken, neither my Pekin bantam or pekin frizzle have laid yet

We clearly have a deranged Pekin who has continued to lay roughly every other day right through so far. She was the only one of the 5 who didn't moult last year so perhaps that's why ... the others are enjoying the rest having given up around end of October time although we did get a surprise second egg last Sunday from someone who must have forgotten she was on holiday
