PixieDust
We just had a huge flash of lightning, an enormous clap of thunder and torrential hail. The dog gets stressed with them but I ventured out to The Pobs and they were coming out of their house, soaked and a bit stressed. They are locked away now. I hope they are ok. Luvachicken
Awww poor little things. I'm pretty certain one of mine died from a massive thunderstorm It was a very big thunderstorm and all the chickens were alive but I checked on them after and one of them had just dropped dead. I always check on them after thunderstorms now.
Beantree
We had one Wyandotte completely stopped eating after a thunderstorm. It took 3 months to get her back to it. We started with hanging cabbage, then wet mash and eventually she ate pellets while waiting for the mash! She lost a lot of weight but is back to fat again. She might even lay this week, but she is 5 years old so we're not counting on it.
Valkyrie
Mine usually announce thunder imminent. As I first found out while going out to see what the fuss was about. By then they'd gone back in their run and I was going eeeeek and running back up the garden!
Daphne
I went into the conservatory last night to check it was watertight in the hailstorm. I got in there, and have never been so frightened indoors it was so loud. I could really envisage the ceiling coming down (big girl's blouse moment) Poor chooks, I do hope everybody's birds are OK. bill2b
There was a sudden hailstorm last week, the girls were outside they sheltered under the Wendy house, I came out of the workshop when it stopped and the girls came out and started eating the hailstones. I know our 3 don't get fazed by noise they come into the workshop when I am grinding away with my angle grinder, I have to chase them out before I start welding, imagine taking them to the vet with arc eye. Mine eat the hailstones too! I really think that Cinnamon thinks all dreams have come true during a hailstorm. First time she ran around completely excited, thinking it was corn falling from fhe skies...
