patsylabrador
A slightly delayed birthday treat. Last night we stopped over in Trier, today we drove down to Triberg which has a beautiful, beautiful waterfall. This is one view and I fully intend to show you more. It's like being in Middle Earth. Tomorrow we're going to EuropaPark which is my favourite theme park. The weather today has been crazy hot but a major storm is forecast which should clear the air. Hopefully overnight and not when I'm hanging upside down on a rollercoaster. A slightly delayed
Cat tails
Amazing! Visited Trier too this year, with the students. It is a nice city with a pretty centre, but also horrendous newer buildings...
patsylabrador
Yes I agree. I think WW2 had a sad effect on lots of German cities. I read that wrecks of US and allied bombers can still be found in the Moselle. I guess aesthetics wasn't their priority. We're probably lucky that so much Roman stuff survived. The thing that amazes me in Trier is the Roman Bridge that still has big traffic using it. I assume some restructuring has been done since but still!! Cat tails
Haha yes! Many of those around! If you have time, visit Heidelberg! Very lovely old town, with loads of historic buildings. It's a university city and loads of Americans studied there before WW2, so it wasn't a prime target in the bombings. It has an amazing castle on the mountain side and you can take an historic train up the mountain. Loads of shops, but make sure you don't go on Sunday, if you want to do any shopping. patsylabrador
I'm quite proud of this picture, I got the timing just right, even if I do say so myself. When I went on this ride I was at the front. I was very happy and got very wet.
Cat tails
Awesome! I make sure I avoid those rides at all costs. Hate getting wet... Very brave of you!
patsylabrador
Cat tails, thank you. I've been to Heidelberg and love it too. I especially like the Absinthe bar in a back street but have never been brave enough to go in. Everyone in there looks so cool I think I'd freeze as I step over the doorstep. We didn't know anything about Ascension Day in Europe today and were pleasantly surprised to find the motorways clear of lorries from Germany right through to French coast. Only a few lorries went past and it made the long journey much easier . Sorry any lorry drivers out there, I love you really but it was nice. patsylabrador
Watched this storm coming towards us. The weather was unseasonably warm so we were able to sit on the balcony and enjoy it. It seemed to go on forever with hail, thunder and lightening.

patsylabrador
A different view of the waterfall. Apparently at Christmas it gets lit up. I'm hoping we can visit then. It sounds very nice.
Cat tails
I think you dodged the worst of the weather. Apparently there was a real tornado in Bayern!
Ain't Nobody Here
Wow, those are menacing clouds . Lovely waterfall . Some great photos!
majorbloodnock
As mentioned on a separate thread, I'm in Germany normally a couple of days a week. Every time I go, I recognize there's such a lot there that I never get a chance to see, and those waterfall photos have underlined it in fluorescent orange marker pen. Thanks for posting them.
