Charlottechicken
Does anyone have any experience of this breed? I'm presently chicken sitting for an old chap in the village and he has 5 week old New Hampshires. He's only after the cockerels to breed from but it looks to me like he has more females than males and if so, I may be able to have a couple I currently have two feisty banties and a huge Maran, all bumbling along nicely together and don't want to upset the apple cart but need some young blood in my flock. I've read that they are pretty aggressive, so does anyone know if New Hampshires are overly aggressive if integrated at a fairly young (POL) age? I don't want to upset the banties, although they do hold their own with the Maran.
mullethunter
I think that may be what Cattails has the bantie version of
Cat tails
I indeed have New Hampshire bantams, but I don't know at all if they are even related to the Reds and if they are comparable to any extent. I wouldn't really call mine feisty, but they aren't incredibly laid back either. They are very active madams, very inquisitive and nosy and one of the three can be very loud... Cat tails
One Dutch site says that the Bantams are proper bantams developed from the New Hampshire Reds.
Charlottechicken
Hmm, looks like I'll have to have a couple and see what happens

hillfarmer
I have new Hampshire red bantams and have always found them to be happy, calm, easy to tame and surprisingly productive for their size.
Charlottechicken
I think we will need photos, Claire! Will do! They are only 5 weeks at present so I won't have them for a while.
Stagsbrae
I have one New Hampshire Red bantam by the name of Ella, I have found her to be quiet (but only in nature!) and a little timid. I find she always stands at the back of my five bantams at treat time and I was ecstatic the first time she actually ate from my hand! Ella is a gorgeous colour and once she started laying there was no stopping her - until the clocks changed.
