Chortle Chook Posted November 30, 2015 Share Posted November 30, 2015 Is anyone watching the 2nd series of 'The Returned' and if so, does it make sense to you? Each episode I hope a light of clarity will dawn on me, but each time it just seems that a load of ghosties walk slowly, very slowly, through the semi light (even daylight hours are sort of sub-fusc) no matter whether it is present time or 35 years ago, and nothing seems to progress. Daphne Posted November 30, 2015 Share Posted November 30, 2015 I am watching, but somehow managed to see it on catch up in the following order: Episode 2, episode 1, episode 4, episode 3' episode 5, episode 6. At first it made no sense at all ( hardly surprising!) but now it is very slowly getting there, and possibly I think it will be one of the cleverest things I have ever seen, although it still has the scope to be too clever by half and end up either disappointing, annoying or just daft I think it's oh so muted because it was shot at 5 pm in winter, over several years. It doesn't help they are all dressed in navy, black or grey. In the last episode, as life becomes a bit better for the living, I'm sure it's no coincidence that Lena's glorious hair is starting to shine out of the general murk. I'm amused that you have watched the episodes out of order because it is so surreal I'm not sure that the order matters. Years ago there was a vogue in surreal French lit. where books had no binding and the idea was that you could throw all the pages up in the air and however they landed the human brain would try and make sense of it.
