Chunkin
How's the public transport around your area Fleata? If you could get to Oxford or something I'm sure one of us could organise lifts/travelling together?? Seems a shame that you should miss out if you wanted to go! I havent worked out exactly how I am going to get there - other than drive up to the outskirts of London and then probably get a train / tube. I will be going up M27 / M3, so if anyone wants to take their life in their hands and cadge a lift PM me and we'll sort somthing out. Popcorn
We're in the midlands Laura and we're going to try to get down to London on Jan 14th. I think we'll leave the car at a train station and take the train and tubes in. I think Gina might be trying to get down to Kew too. Would you be able to join us? Hope so. If not, we'll have to try and arrange something a little more central in the summer. I'd be up for it! Sorry I'm so late at catching up with this thread....had a manic two days and got stranded in Dudley on Monday in the snow....only just made it back.... anyway....I'd be happy to have a get together in the Midlands. I live in Leicester, but have folks near Dudley too, so either way is good for me. I'm hopefully going to Kew in January (does your train pass through Leicester Kate) but I think in the Springtime a Midlands get-together sounds fab. Will be nice before I have the baby too. PurpleHen
Going back to the earlier prodding - here's a prod from the Wirral PROD PROD so hopefully a more central get together next summer.........
The Dogmother
Can't remember if I've said this already, but I'm up for a midlands get-together - go to the opening of an envelope, me We're going to the London bash too. My company (post) Christmas bash in London is that evening, so we were going to stay at my folks anyway as they live on the outskirts of London. Now the plan is to get to their's early and get the train in from there (they are in zone 6, British Rail) - Elstree, to go to Kew. Are you chaps getting the train all the way down, or driving and then parking somewhere? I can recommend Elstree as it is pretty cheap to get into London from there. Perhaps we could meet at my parents' place? I haven't asked, but I'm sure that they won't mind!
Mrs Frugal
We're planning to drive to Cockfosters and take the train in from there then the tube to Kew. We used to go to Wimbledon and that was the best station for us to get to. Don't know if that's any good to you Gina?
The Dogmother
Cockfosters isn't far from my folks. Their trains go into Kings Cross Thameslink and only take 20 mins to get there.
Mel (& Paul)
Being from deepest darkest dorset I very rarely travel up to town I thought I might drive to Richmond, leave my car there and get a tube - but I better find out where Kew is first
The Dogmother
It's right next to Richmond on the District tube line Can't wait to meet everyone!
Popcorn
Hmmmm.....not sure I could navigate my way to Cockfosters in the car by myself Kate! I haven't really given it much thought yet, but I'll more than likey get the train to St Pancras from Leicester and go from there......where is Kew?! Mrs Frugal
Are you going on your own, Gina? If you are, is there an early train to Stamford or Peterborough from Leicester and you can fit in the car with us?? There's only room for one but if you're travelling on your own, you can certainly come with us and we'll pick you up from Stamford or Peterborough Station? The Dogmother
Nice one Kate! Either that or we can meet you at St Pancras (which is really near Kings Cross Thameslink) if that helps. We are getting the tube down there - Piccadilly line to Earls Court and change to District line for Kew. Tube map
Mel (& Paul)
It's right next to Richmond on the District tube line Can't wait to meet everyone!
