Popcorn
Scrubber by name........ (sorry) I find starting the cleaning a real effort, but once I've got into it , I'm away. Darren hates it, as he can never find anything ever again. My point it that if it was pout away proerly in the first place.....anyway, that';s a whole other threads worth of gossip.... Edit: Gosh, my fingers were working overtime in that sentence
Mel (& Paul)
Brilliant, Gina, when you REALLY get into the cleaning when you are "nesting" (which loads of my pregnant friends told me they did) you can come and stay with me
The Dogmother
Tell me about it Gina! Fine about the scrubbers bit - i kind of set myself up for that didn't I? ali-s
[ Remember, I can't get the bars out easily with the mark one & really do have to dismantle it to get at the bars properly. ]P.S. Of course, if I had a mark 2............... I have got a Mark one Eglu and managed to remove the bars relatively easily at the weekend via the egg port door. Took out the small 3 bars joined together, then the single bars working towards the door. Next the large joined together bars - wriggled it about and out the egg port at an angle. Finally the long single bar at the back. Put them back in reverse order. The bars have Diatom rubbed into the ends and this seems to have made them easier to remove and put back as the ends are now smooth. Now I can do this I do not intend to dismantle the Eglu for cleaning until the Spring, unless we get a mild Winters day.
The Dogmother
Too right Ali
Sheilaz
No Ali, my bars are a menace to get out. I do just check the 3 bar plus one other through the egg port but the rest are well & truly wedged, even with Diatom. I'm not concerned now, as I'll just do quick cleans this way in the winter but lots of full dismantled ones in the summer. I thought of shaving off some bar ends, but they'd probably be too loose in the summer, knowing my DIY. So, its OK, not a problem. But I understand that the mark 2 is easier in this respect! The Dogmother
Not wanting to rub it in at all, but they certainly have ironed out most of the mentioned problems with the mark 2. Quick winter cleans are a lot easier as they can be done through the egg port, the top of the new Eglu is probably heavier as the whole unit is bigger, but I can lift it and I'm only 5'1" and 7.5 stones. It's just cumbersome rather than heavy. I understand that there are rumours of a bigger model being released in the new year, plus a run extension. HopefullyJames will tell us something about this when we meet up in January.
