Nugget
Hi All I am new to the world of chicken keeping and was wondering if anyone could shed light on what sex my 3 chicks are? We hatched them and they are Barnevelders. Thanks
mullethunter
My favourite game!!! I’ve never had a barnevelder but have had Wyandotte chicks as well as campines and pekins. To me it looks like you have one female (on the right in the middle photo and at the back in the bottom photo) and two males. Could be completely wrong though!! Beantree
Far too early to tell for sure, but I seem to remember the female's wings develop earlier than the males and the tail feathers of the males develop earlier than the females? The comb development of the males is greater than the females obviously, but early on that's not always a reliable indicator. Neither is who is fighting who. Chick Chick
How old are they? I think you will need to wait until they are a bit older to be honest and a side on photo of the full chick would be easier to tell from. At the moment Im guessing one female, one male and one I'm not sure

I concur Would be easier if we knew their age though
Nugget
The chicks are 4 weeks old. I think the chick with the white chest is a male and the other two are female. The one with the white chest is not feathering as quick, has shorter wings and is more upright. The other two are feathering the same and have the double barring on the feathers. Still interested in what you all think Thanks
Daphne
Well I'd say the one with a white chest is a boy, the one at the back in the 2nd photo is a girl, and I'm not sure about the one in the first photo, comb says boy but hopefulness says wait and see.
