mad house
Can anyone give me any ideas, one of my girls has started laying on the roosting bars and it seems that she or the other one has started eating the egg. Not sure what to do.
Hen Watch
Was it a soft shelled egg???? Mine recently laid some on the roosting bars and they did get eaten. But they turned out to be shoft shelled eggs and some even fell through the bars. I increased the amount of grit and oyster shell in their bowl to toughen their egg shells up. Krysia
We have had this problem too. I read somewhere and it might have been here..... Leave the broken shell or get another fresh egg and crack temptingly open and sprinkle liberally with chili powder or similar. then remove a day later. This should put them off doing again. We have been fine since and the chickens didn't appear to suffer from the chili!
