Today however one of them hasn't wanted to leave the coop. She's laid already today but looks like she's still straining. Help please! Cat tails Posted November 5, 2020 Share Posted November 5, 2020 Is she sitting down on the egg or in the egg box, all puffed up and maybe pecking? Then it would likely be a broody hen, trying to hatch eggs. How old are your hens, how long have they been laying and what breed are they? And what do you describe as “straining”?
