Charlie50
Hi, sorry if this is a dumb question, I’m new to chickens! I’m getting a cube and possibly an auto door for the coop as well. But I was wondering when do people remove the internal partition to the nest box. Do you remove it later in the morning after the auto door has been opened for a while? I guess I’m trying to see the advantage of having an auto door if I have to go out early in the morning to remove the partition anyways? Or do you keep the partition open all the time? In which case I’d be tempted to get a go up, I will only have 3 ex-batts. Thanks for any advice
Cat tails
Not all chickens lay at the same time of the day. It takes about 26 hours for an egg to develop, so the time of laying can differ each day. If you have a chicken that is broody, you can close up the laying box, to prevent a broody chicken to sit on the nest. With ex bats, this won’t be much of an issue. Most Cube users just leave it open.
