buffie
I could do with some tips for cooking a free range crown please. I used to chew on bones, love black pudding andcouldn't wait for my turkey but haven't for many years now so not sure how to 'baste' (bacon??) and how long to cook it. Think it's about 13Ibs Any tips would be good, it's gets all hectic here with my dad and my MIL trying to advise (differently of course ) and my mum just trying to let me get on with it. Help!! red
YOu could do what I'm doing Buffs - I've ordered an organic free range turkey from a local farm (with an on-farm butcher - bonus!) and have invited me and Oh to MIL's house on the basis that I'll bring the turkey and she can cook it! OH and I'll be bringing the left overs home with me MIL is a great traditional cook and manages to cook and socialise with perfect ease whereas I'd just be in a flap so it seems easier this way The bbc website has a christmas dinner troubleshhoting page (can't recall webaddress and no time to search - sorry) but it has all sorts of info. BTW I haven't eaten any meat for about 12 years now but I have decided to get a turkey this year - I have thought about it long and hard but it's such an excellent farm that I feel happy with my decision - although I do fear it's the start of a meaty slope - they also do lovely organic outdoor-pig bacon
buffie
Hi Red Have both sets of parents as like being here with the cuddly furry/feathery kids but in a daft display of 'i am the country cook' offered to cook it . My mum cooked it and brought it last year. Anyway my fault but don't blame you for having turkey. I was in that frame of mind until this year and I just totally went off the idea but yours will be great! BBx
