Debbie1962 Posted February 6, 2021 Share Posted February 6, 2021 My chickens started laying about 4-5 weeks ago and the eggs are quite small. I understand this is normal for first time layers but when do they start to get bigger? They are hybrid fairly large chickens so I would expect larger eggs from them. Beantree Posted February 6, 2021 Share Posted February 6, 2021 Ours started at just 42 grammes and started to noticeably increase in size after a two months. They kept increasing and have now got to average just under 70 grammes and are now stable 6 months after they started laying. So I'd say you should see a slow increase in size in a few weeks Debbie. But we used to get the little eggs every day and now we get fewer eggs; essentially the same weight of eggs each day as we had at the start. So perhaps yours will be the same?
