Guest
made the mayo, now I just need a foolproof recipe for making nice potato wedges, preferably garlic ones. what do i do please?
The Dogmother
I scrub the skins on some taters and cut them into wedges, parboil them and drain. Mix up some flour with herbs, a little chilli, S&P and some minced up garlic and then shake the wedges in the flour (keep any left over for coating homemade chicken nuggets) and either bake or fry in some olive oil. Delish! Rosie loves making this and her own chicken nuggets. For nuggets, cut free range chicken breast into strips, dip in egg, then seasoned flour, egg again and then some breadcrumbs (your fingers will be very messy by now!) and shallow pan fry in olive oil. It's like 'ethical KFC'

Snowy
I'm afraid my potato wedges are nowhere near as complicated as that Clare, although yours might be tastier! Wash and dry spuds, then slice into thick wedges. Toss in sunflower oil with added salt, pepper, garlic, turmeric (whatever takes your fancy). Arrange skin side down on a large baking tray and bake in a hot oven for 45 - 60 minutes. Voila! And perfect dunked in mayo!
The Dogmother
Sounds like they're delicious Snowy. I bet the boys love them too. We're going to make meatballs tomorrow evening - our freerange-meat-butcher has a BOGOF on at the moment on his beef mince.

Tina C
Our favourite Friday night meal - egg, fat chips and mayo - scrub, slice and toss in a good slug of olive oil. Nothing fancy here! Serve (and this bit is very important) with a large glass of red wine Ooh just remembered another way of doing spuds - scrub, slice and layer with a good covering of olive oil, garlic and rosemary between each layer. The Dogmother
Glad to hear it Cat - did the little uns eat them up?
CatsCube
Noah was knicking them off my plate, he always loves the crispiest ones, so perfers them to oven chips which tend to be soggy and tasteless.
