KateP
Roxanne started laying this week and so far has laid both of her eggs in the run on the bark. Do you think this is because she is just getting used to it? I have got straw in the nesting box - I don't put too much in as they just take it all out again until there are a few strands left. Maybe they don't like it? My other chicken started laying about a month ago and always lays her eggs on the roosting bars. I keep meaning to buy one of those fake eggs - do they normally supply them at the same place you buy feed from?
Snowy
I've certainly seen them in my local feed store. Or you could try a golf ball?
Ain't Nobody Here
I've only had one egg (Milly's first!) laid in the run but I'm planning to use a golfball in the nestbox if it happens again.
Roxanne
It's really disconcerting reading about a chicken with my name!!
KateP
It's really disconcerting reading about a chicken with my name!! Sorry about that! I did try a golf ball to try and encourage Donnatella to lay in the nesting box but it didn't work. I think I will have to get one of those eggs. Helly Welly
I used a fake egg with mine and it worked a treat. They occasionally lay in the run if the nest box is full.

tomalexi
Golf balls didn't work for me but rubber eggs worked first time! I got mine from www.solwayfeeders.com (an excellent site for chicken equipment).[/url]
