KateP
Roxanne laid two soft shelled eggs last Thursday and there has been nothing since then. Is it usual that after a soft shelled egg they might not lay properly for a while? As far as I can tell she is ok in herself (I don't get to see them much with the short days, just a few minutes in a morning ). I have provided grit and also have started to mix some in with their porridge - I don't go overboard with the treats though. Thanks
chelsea
my girls went through a phase of softies. Again - for no reason as ours have grit etc. They normally arent right for a while afterwards. Sometimes I wonder whether the weather/seasons/dark nights might have something to do with it.??....
jomaxsmith
My Coral laid 2 softies on Friday, another yesterday and finally a normal one today. I wonder if it's just that she had had 2 weeks of laying almost every day and she's very young (24 wks) and just couldn't keep up with it! Have you tried adding Limestone Flour - I've added it to my lot's food for the last week so I'm hoping that'll help too. Jo
KateP
I haven't tried the limestone flour - I think I might get some, thanks. I just get so worried about any little thing!
jomaxsmith
I just get so worried about any little thing! Me too! I thoughts pets were meant to be relaxing but this is almost as bad as having a new baby (without the stitches or lactating ) After reading about all the dreadful things that can happen here on the Forum I'm always just glad to find them all still breathing each morning, and none with their insides hanging out or feathers pecked off! Egluntyne
I find Limestone flour makes a difference. We haven't had any thin shelled eggs at all since I've been adding it.
