Tina C
Ooh I like that - I wonder if one of those (or maybe one of the bigger troughs) would be good for my fish?

Spud
Good luck with the pond, but do remember that goldfish are very closely related to koi carp and, in adequate conditions, can grow to more than 18 inches in length. They are also social fish, so you're facing several growing to this size. Although some do successfully keep them without a filter or pump, these are not only included to remove mechanical debris, but to prevent the buildup of toxic ammonia that is produced in excess by messy fish such as goldfish. Generally speaking, pre-formed pond liners are too small for keeping goldfish. Having said that, wildlife ponds can be made using even the smallest budgets. Good luck with your project - I look forward to seeing the results!
