Jules.
over breakfast this morning I made Alexander laugh as I gave a running commentary (silly one) about our girls chasing the wild birds form the grass. Anyway, the conversation then got around to getting more chickens & buying hubby a couple of them for his birthday as a surprise present! Hattie the cat was a birthday present for him once...... Tweety
My hubby was telling me about someone he knew who was given 2 Black Rock chooks by her office as a leaving present! She was potty about hens and already had some, so had a house for them etc, but it was a complete surprise and she was really thrilled. I thought that was such a lovely idea and I'm sure your hubby would be delighted with some chooks for his birthday.

Guest
our resident robin is fascinated by the chickens and keeps following them round the garden, him on the fence and them on the grass. He tried to join them on the grass one day and they went for him, he got away but I worry about his nosiness and their voraciousness! ktdot
our resident robin is fascinated by the chickens and keeps following them round the garden, him on the fence and them on the grass. He tried to join them on the grass one day and they went for him, he got away but I worry about his nosiness and their voraciousness! We have a pair of robins who are mostly ignored by the chickens. Babs did run at one the other day as it fluttered down onto the grass but I think she thought it might be food falling from the sky. The robin just jumped onto a flowerpot out of her way and she lost interest when she realised what it was. There is a little dunnock that wanders round the garden with the girls too. The wild birds look so tiny next to the chooks!
chickenanne
I went out to see what my chickies were fussing about a couple of months ago, to find the remains of a bird being argued over - I'm pretty sure it was a robin....

Egluntyne
our resident robin is fascinated by the chickens and keeps following them round the garden, him on the fence and them on the grass. We have a couple of Robins who potter about with the girls. The hens ignore them completely. When I am seeing to the hens they are swooping and fluttering about and come within inches of me. I love to see them dithering in the post of the Omlet netting.
