Tiggy
we have a big old detached house that is beautiful to look at but eats up money. over the last 10 years we have installed double glazing, new boiler, solar panels, cavity wall insulation & last year had a back boiler fitted behind our open fire. The place is much warmer & we normally get free hot water but our gas bills are still the same!!! We are with scottish power for both gas & electric - npower switched us without our permission last year & we had a real game to sort it out,
The Dogmother
Ahh, but has your unit usage gone down Anne? I was checking back through old power bills at the weekend and my usage of units has gone down, which is rather satisfying, but like you, the amount I am billed is more or less stationary. Guest
We are with scottish power for both gas & electric - npower switched us without our permission last year & we had a real game to sort it out, Scottish Power are apparantly one of the most expensive suppliers in the country. We are with them, but only because they are the only suppliers that provide the tariffs for our night time electricity. When you go onto the U-switch site, it doesn't even have our tariff listed on the Scottish Power list of tariffs! n-power switched us over to them in our last house, without our permission, and after a two year fight, we switched away from them, and they waived our full 2 year electricity bill, because we complained, and they had to admit that they were at fault. One Man Banned
I used to love one thing about our old house that I miss No matter who we contacted, Transco swore blue that we did not have gas connected. Although our heating and cooking was all done on gas I got them to clarify that we'd not be charged and they told us that as they don't pipe gas to our house no-one could claim to supplying gas, hence no bill. Wish it worked here A xx

Louise
I have a similar problem finding my house on databases Most tell me quite happily that my house does not exist even when I explain I am standing in it and its about 200 years old they insist it is just my imagination
Guest
N Power switched my Mum to them as well. When we bought this house she hadn't sold her old house and 22 days later she allegedly agreed to switch to a door to door salesman! Well he must have seen the for sale sign and already had the names of the people in the street. She was stressed a tthe time so I dealt with it - they kept asking me for "my" (we often pretend to be each other) personal information to verify who I was. I told them no way, no how as I don't believe they have the correct data and stuck to my guns until they gave ME the made up date of birth! I told them this would go down great with the regulator as they had sold to me when I lived 30 miles away. They tried to say at first that maybe the date was wrong on the form but I pointed out people don't usually get dates wrong by more than a few days. Guest
I've just ordered some of these http://www.eonenergy.com/At-Home/Going-Green/Energy-Saving-Advice/Interactive-House/Resource-Centre/resource-centre-powerdown.htm Should solve another little energy eating problem - the computer plugs are inaccessible on a regular basis. I ordered them off Ebay though - a LOT cheaper!
