Richard
well done. many years ago my son had his bike stolen. He was a cyclocross/mountain bike rider and had a nice Marin Bear Valley. the handlebars broke in training (shows how he used to ride it) and he left it in the back yard of the bike shop as he went into the shop to get some new bars. when he came out after a few minutes it was gone. We didn't claim on the insurance as he hadn't locked it. About 10 months later he was doing work experience in the bike shop, and on his last day rang me at work - his bike had come in to have work done. It had lost a lot of the good kit and had been resprayed (badly) but he knew it was his from the special chainrings it had and, amonst other things, the drilled brake levers (he'd drilled them himself - to reduce the weight of the bike). The police said, when we contacted them, oh we won't do anything 'cos you won't want it back - you will have claimed the insurance. When we said we hadn't, they were rather surprised. End result was Matt got his bike back. The guy who was met by the police when he came to collect the bike said that he bought it for £15 at a car boot sale. Sequel to the tale was that about a year later it was nicked again, this time from a locked shed in the garden (and it was locked to a hasp inside the shed!). Some people are despicable rubbish! Tessa the Duchess
We have a special cycle bar stand in our front garden. Son got his racing bike stolen, they cut the chain. I have a very very old 'district nurses' bike which was probably made in the 1930's "Ooops, word censored!"ody has ever tried to pinch it, I think even if it wasn't chained up "Ooops, word censored!"ody would bother I also have an electric bike but I keep that in the shed Glad you got your bike back. Actually I once bought a bike from Petticoat Lane market, hope it wasn't stolen Tessa
