The Dogmother
Rosie put her's in the post this morning, I can't remember what our score was, but Sadie and little Lavinia drew for the most frequent/consistent laying. Rosie also wrote a lovely letter to Penny. Clare*, I did hear mention of a prize too - probably some meal worms!
motherhen
Did I read somewhere that there was to be prizes More eggciting than that Whichever colour turns out to promote the greatest laying will be the colour that all commercial hen coops/sheds are to be painted - inside and outside of course PINK TO WIN
motherhen
I've emailed my form I did a template as a word document, so could attach it to an email. Total 330g (laid alternate days) Doris Av 56g. Total 438g Mabel Av 42g. Total 296g So grand total was 1064g - That's over a KG of eggs PINK TO WIN PINK TO WIN
chocchick
What are the prizes for Trinny should win the heavy egg prize for her 91/100g monsters this week Not biased...honest I like having the table on the kitchen wall and filling in. It's interesting to see who laid what when.
The Dogmother
It's great fun Choccy; Rosie has a calender where she records who has laid what and when, then she tells me whether she expects so-and-so to lay tomorrow. it also helps us to remember when a particular hen was moulting. Today was our first 5-egg day, they had all laid by lunchtime. The first time they have all laid together on the same day, and typically after the experiment has ended

I record eggs, moulting, broody, everything which relates to the girls. It is great fun, but I am 41 years old

Hellcat
Ali, good to see the chooks are laying again. Are they still on restricted treats?
ali-s
. Are they still on restricted treats? Definately They had a desertspoon of wheat between them on Saturday and Sunday. Today even less They have stopped making a noise whenever I step out of the back door and they see me and have also stopped pacing up and down the run when they see me looking out of the kitchen window at them The pellets are going at an amazing rate. Buttercup has finished her moult and since I restricted the treats her feathers have grown back really quickly. I was wondering if this is related
Hellcat
Amazing! Never realised that what I took to be me being mean was actually why I was getting so many eggs. I feel so much better about rarely treating my girls!
Louise
Mine only get treats a couple of timea a week at this time of the year as I am out most of the daylight hours and I want them to eat their pellets and most of the treats they do get are greens of some variety
