Basset
I'm really interested to read everyone's comments. We have 4 vacuum cleaners, but none of them work as well as I would like. I'm on the lookout for one that works magic on dog hair without overheating after 2 rooms!!!
craftyhunnypie
If your budget can stretch to it, get a kirby! Ours is brilliant! Other than that...a dyson or vax cyclone hoover. Emma.x
Cate in NZ
We've been through a few vacuum cleaners in our time, got a Dyson about 8-ish years ago, and I thought it was great at vacuuming but found it very easily damaged, things just kept breaking on it. Eventually we replaced it with a Miele Cat & Dog cylinder cleaner which was fantastic, very good at vacuuming, easy to use and not too heavy to carry. But after about 3 years it's just died . We took it to our local repair shop and the guy there said it was repairable, easy job, but the spare parts are so expensive that it's uneconomical to repair. So we've just bought a second hand, reconditioned Dyson, and so far, so good . Still looking for the perfect vacuum cleaner though, not convinced I've found it yet. Egluntyne
I'd forgotten about Kirbys. A friend had one. It was an astonishing price....about £800 as I recall. She swore by it.

Ain't Nobody Here
Only just noticed this post. I've had Dysons for years. First one was great but packed in eventually so got a new one. Very happy with it and it picks up the dog hairs brilliantly.
Couperman
We have an Electrolux Vitesse pet smart, it works well if a little bit plasticky I have never seen a cleaner use a Dyson or an upright for that matter, Henry seems to be the way forward. The Dyson we used to have had the nozzle as part of the handle, not good for the shake 'n' Vac routine! The original vortex bagless design was brilliant but other than that the Dyson was poor. The best of the best is indeed a Kirby but unless you have a hotel you are probably better off wasting your money on a small car! I am not an expert on vacuum cleaners but I do design stuff and I having a handle come off in your hand whilst vaccing is annoying. I have been annoyed twice in my life vacuuming, both times a Dyson, I had to take it apart to get it to work again, but to be fair it was an old one, but low mileage if you know what I mean. Snowy
I love my Dyson - this is my second, bought last year when my original 8 year old just died for no reason. Previously had a Henry (cos the cleaner wanted one ) that always left a nasty niff in the air and a Vax upright that was absolutely useless (and also ponged) (did I tell you my carpet now looks amazing since it's been steamed and dysoned? )
