Grovefarm
Just a quickie, after watching jamies fowl dinners, I've always suspected it but do all the cockeral chicks from omlet (and presumibly meadowsweet) meet a similar grizley early end? Snowy
I was thinking that. They must do as they are autosexing breeds.
Moonie
My husband said this too, i told him that they raise them for meat, he was so upset by the chicks i didn't want to make him any sadder.
Egluntyne
Yes....by buying hens we are adding to the problem in a way. The only way to be not part of the problem is to be a vegan. How many of us would be able to make that leap?
feemcg
They are sex-linked (as opposed to autosexing), which means that particular cross - Rhode Island Red x Light Sussex - produces ginger girls and white boys, therefore quick and easy to sex at hatch. I hatched my own 'Gingernuts' last year and the colours are quite distinct.
MedusA
What a cute pic! I have to admit I'd never really thought that my little Scully looked like that once.
