Egluntyne
I tried bicarb today. It works!
Lesley
The Lush one I use is mostly compressed Bi-carb. It works on all but the most strenuous days.
The Dogmother
I tried bicarb today. It works! What do you do - just wipe it under your arms? I always road-test any new deodorants on a circuits class... that's a test and a half!
Nic_78
Hi! I've just caught up with this thread. I don't know if it's any use, but on the bicarb theme...I thought I'd mention what I use. I make my own 'spray' deodorant... Dissolve bicarbonate of soda in a glass of water (as much as you can add before it stops dissolving...so as soon as you see sediment in the bottom that's not disappearing no matter how much you stir, you've added enough), pour the water into a spray bottle (I just use a little travel spray bottle from Boots) and add a few drops of lavender essential oil (as this is also deodorising). It's a lovely refreshing light spritzing spray and when you spray it on, you can't possibly believe it could work...but it really does! I also use just plain old bicarb from time to time, but I find the spray is so much more convenient, and much less messy.
Louise
Wow that sounds fab I have major problems with deoderants as I am so darned alergic to them either the metal content is too high or the perfume etc brings me out and the fact I am a sweaty individual doesn't help much I may have a shot at this spray one and see if it works for me the plain bicarb wouldn't be much good as I have to change and shower alot at work so it would be too messy
Nic_78
It's definitely worth a try! Different things work for different people, but it's so cheap to make you've not got anything to lose. Apparently if you want to make it even stronger, you can add some vodka and/or witch hazel, but to be honest I've not needed to do this as the bicarb/water/lavender has worked perfectly for me. It's always good to know though, just in case!

The Dogmother
I might give that a go... but then I usually wear black to work (saves thinking in the morning) so it might be a tad messy
Louise
Reporting back I made the bicarb solution on saturday and used it yesterday it seemed fine but it is no good today I started feeling smelly about 13.00 ish so I will have to go back to Dove sensitive roll on (if I can find it ) I am now quite concious about how smelly I am this afternoon and this included the lavender essential oil
Egluntyne
I'm still getting on OK with it...even though I have been feverish. I've cleaned out 1 Eglu today too... Every one is different. I've just used the plain Soda Bic...culinary grade.

frenchlayer
Just catching up on this one, It made me smile. I have spent my life with problem BO, and have found that in the past 15 months I have been using ONLY bicarb, and it works a treat. It takes a while to get used the fact that you do sweat (ie get wet) but you don't smell, the clothes don't smell. I keep a nice pot in the kitchen and have a small pot I keep in my bag. I hadn't thought of mixing it into a stray I might give that a go. The other thing I found was that the older clothes that I had had my problem with still always smelt after taking them out of the washing. I went through them all individually by putting white vineagar on the arm pits, and rubbing this in, leaving it overnight, and then washing. All my t-shirts came out like new. So you may need to do this to your existing clothes, it seems to be a build of bacteria and old deodorant that cause this. All my newer clothes are fine, no smelly build up Funny isn't it, how I did spend loads on deodorant in the past, now it's cheap as chips bicarb. Also very useful for getting smelly sick, urine or other smells out of clothes and carpet. Good luck, Julie
