Lesley Posted March 9, 2006 Share Posted March 9, 2006 I was surprised that Lush products have SLS in them - I was going to ask on Saturday but the 'staff' were too busy discussing Friday night and whose turn it was to fetch the biscuits I use their shampoo bars and they contain SLS - I've not had any problems though. I am unfortunately one of those people who has to wash hair every day or feel yucky. Of my two daughters, Lizzy (13) washes hers 2-3 times a week or it looks greasy, but Cathy(11) has never used shampoo and just rinses hers in the shower. She has the most beautiful, thick, soft, glossy hair which is in great condition. I remember seeing an article on tv some years ago about an experiment into not using shampoo and after the horrible greasy period, everyone's hair looked great. I would happily not wash mine with shampoo if I could just get past that awful initial stage when your head feels terrible. Anyone got a deserted island I could camp on for a few months! Or is rinsing with water enough to get rid of any? I can't imagine being able to get a brush through my hair if it had only been rinsed in water, without the help of my leave in spray conditioner. Linda Posted March 9, 2006 Share Posted March 9, 2006 It seems to be that using no products and just rinsing with fresh water allows your scalp to produce the natural oils that keep your hair and scalp in tip top condition. My daughter's hair really does look and feel beautiful all the time. I recently bought some 'natural' toothpaste (Tom's of Maine) and was really shocked to see Sodium Lauryl Sulfate listed in the ingredients. On the box it says this is derived from coconuts. Ren supply all the toiletries, shower gel soaps, shampoo and moisturisers - and they are really nice - and the smell WHoah! Sorry thought I'd add my thoughts Are you still using the REN stuff Buff? I was looking for this topic to post about it. We both use it Andrew and it lasts ages. I use all the skin care and it's lovely. I stopped all the 'big sell' products early this year after spending a fortune chasing youth...All the products messed up my skin and stripping it back has made it much better.
