buffie
They sound good Buffie, I'd be interested to hear how you get on.CX PS, the article arrived this morning , thanks. I will read it at lunchtime. They arrived and seem really good, use 2 drops of lavender oil in the fabric softener compartment and there you go. Towels are nice and soft and we have hard water BBx
Lesley
Happymama - does it only take a week? My hair feels horrible after two days if I haven't washed it i have rerad about this before but more info needed.......
Sheilaz
I'm interested too, Happymama. I saw a woman on the TV (was it you? ) who tried only water for a year. I think the first few days were the worst, just when it must have been tempting to give in. But, after a fortnight, it had settled down. After the whole year it didn't look unwashed, you'd never guess it had been a year. But, she had thick wavy hair, so I wondered if it took to it better? I'm tempted to try (paper bag for 1st fortnight. ) Presumably, water is enough to cleanse and take out grime & smoke? If you use water, it's not the same as unwashed hair! Should I try it? I haven't pm'd yet as you may get inundated, but I am interested.
Guest
Not for me but go on you two give it a go and tell us what happens. BBx
Mrs Frugal
Nor me, BB but I'll be interested to read what happens to those who try it. I can't stand my hair if it's even slightly in need of a wash!

Popcorn
Oh me either. I'm a hair wash a day girl. Otherwise I look too greasy and that makes me feel dirty I'd feel terrible all day if I couldn'thave my morning shower and hiar wash.... Sheilaz
But I think that looking as if it needs washing depends on usual hair wash frequency. So, if you always do wash daily, it will seem yuk after two days, but if you leave it a week regularly, it'll be fine until day 7. Presumably, if left longer, the natural oils become self regulating? Washing them out everyday forces the body to make more, etc, etc. You still shower with water, it's the shampoo/conditioner etc part that is an over-rated idea, and duly enforced as being essential by, er, shampoo etc manufacturers. Have I got this right, Happymama? Now, when could I try this though?....I use shampoo twice a week...day 4 is paper bag day. Just missed an opportunity, OH away for 2 weeks, I should have tried it then. I don't think he'd appreciate greasy wife Not trying just before Stamford! Popcorn
...if you always do wash daily, it will seem yuk after two days, but if you leave it a week regularly, it'll be fine until day 7. My husband is always saying that to me Sheila. It's actually getting out of the habit and having greasy hair for a day or two to break to cycle isn't it. Maybe when baby comes I 'll have a good excuse for looking like Worzel Gummage and can try and go two days without a hair wash - (my knees are trembling at the thought already )
Louise
Sometimes I have to wash my hair 8-10 times a day and after a while your hair copes the skin is not so sure At the end you feel really greasy for about two weeks and then it settles down because of that I try not to wash it more than twice a week between this work

The Dogmother
Sounds a real fag Louise! When I had really long hair, I washed it less, and when travelling in Africa, there wasn't enough water to wash it, so I spent 3 weeks just combing coconut oil through my hair - it was in fab condition afterwards. Now I wash it 3 times a week, and by the time it is due for a wash, it feels all itchy and manky, which I am sure is psychological.
Popcorn
and by the time it is due for a wash, it feels all itchy and manky. oh Clare!
PurpleHen
I have checked my Ecover shower gel - and that contains the stuff too! As did every other product on the bathroom I don't have any problems but my OH gets itchy skin quite often so I am going to invest in some some from Lush - any excuse will do It's all so tempting just on the website, going into the shop must be unbearable,,,,
Mrs Frugal
Look at the Lush ingredients carefullly as I found that their soap has SLS in too. The bath bombs are OK but the Gratuitous Violets soap definitely had it in.
PurpleHen
I had great fun last night checking the ingredients on each one - funnily enough, the soap they reccomend for people who have "given up on everything except water" does have it in! But I managed to find a few which didn't. Can't wait for the smells

The bath bombs are OK but the Gratuitous Violets soap definitely had it in. Yes some products do and some don't so ask them in the store. The girl I saw in there pointed out SLS to me but I have now stopped using alot of their cleansing stuff for the time being just to use clean stuff with no possible irritants. It seems to be working and I have never had such soft skin on my body and still use their body cream but without the stuff in shower gel I've improved 100% SOAPNUTS....Dirty walking jeans came out clean and Daisies dog coat BBx

The Dogmother
Sorry for being thick Buffster, but where was the link for soapnuts, and the sample pack (is it free?) I might test it on Rosie's splodges of ketchup down her clothes . Phil doesn't have a washing machine at the moment, so his dirty DIY clothes are a bit of a challenge too
Nicola H
Here is the link http://www.gogreen.cellande.co.uk/shop/products/soapnuts/soapnuts.htm Clare they sell a sample size that will do 10-15 washes for £2.........................

Twiglet
Went to Boots today and there is a new brand on the shelves called "Naked" with lots of money off offers. It promises to be 87% natural and never to have any SLS Parabens or petrochemicals in. They've got some trial sizes & i tried them last night. Quite nice. Have a look next time you're in.
