Mrs Webmuppet
Woohoo! The chicken house is ready. The OH spent this afternoon levelling the soil and layng the paving.................just need some chickens now. Well done Mr Webmuppet Hopefully we will get some chickens in the next few days. Little Miss Webmuppet wants a white pekin bantam, the OH wants a Lavender Pekin Bantam and I want a chicken that will provide eggs for the kitchen. Anyway, it's very nice, your hubbie did a great job

Egluntyne
It looks smashing. All that "nagging" paid off. Well done Mr W. Have you thought about names yet? Edited February 17, 2008 by Guest
fletch
Here's another model from Albany Pets, I collected in person & they were extremely helpful people. We won this 705 on Ebay for what we thought was an amazing £129. I built a run & slapped some Cuprinol Ducksback on them to colour & protect! Before ....... when purchased, this is the suppliers example designed for 15-20 birds, our nesting boxes are on the opposite side ........ After, the white rope is to remotely lift the henhouse door ........ [/img] Edited February 17, 2008 by Guest

fletch
very impressive fletch How many girls do you have? love your heath robinson door contraption and the colours of the set up are very nice. Hi Poet, we've got 6 so far, 2 Bovan Neras, 2 Isa Browns & 2 White Rangers all at POL, hopefully the eggs will come soon! The colours were pinched from traditional Swedish country house colours. My wife is Swedish so it was designed to make her feel a little bit at home!
Egluntyne
Very pretty indeed. I love the remotely operated door. Very high tech. You should put a longer rope on it and then you could open it from your bed. Just thought I'd mention....I notice you have used chicken wire. I don't want to alarm you, but foxes can very easily bite through it. Perhaps you might want to consider changing it to weld mesh, which is much more robust. It's lovely, well done I want to paint ours when the weather is better but haven't decided on colours yet.
Olly
wow - two chicken palaces! Well done Mrs Webmuppet, your OH has moved a long way from refusing to have chickens, to modifying the coop! (Little Miss WebMuppet must have great powers of persuasion. You'd better watch out, her next project might be something bigger than chickens!) look forward to seeing the 'occupied' palace. I love the Swedish colours and the remote control door lift on yours, Fletch.

Yes ........ unfortunately it was a design error before I learnt that foxes could get through that stuff! Fortunately, we've got a garden guard who only lives a few paces away, he's alert & doesn't like foxes ..............
