Aylana
Definately give the baking soda a try Ginette. It would be such a shame for you to give up now. Let us know how it goes! Glad to see you back Sheila, thanks for posting about the baking soda! Its nice to know that something out there can give the "oatmeal" experience without the appearance of severe dandruff afterwards! I think we are all doing great, even those who have given in and washed have learnt something important about their hair and will probably treat it better in the future. We all rock! Guest
Well said, Aylana! Don't worry, I might need support to get through this greasy stage, but I won't give up (I don't think!). I'm going to see it through the full 3 months and then decide if I like the results.

Guest
I clearly should have done the hippy thing in the 60s, but I was far too young!
Sheilaz
But, have you used the baking soda? I logged on this morning just to find out! My hair looks better than it has done all my life, no grease, lovely shine & colour. I'm offline for a couple of days now, but this'll be the 2nd thread I check when I return! I nearly stopped due to it being so yuk this week..I think I've reached the turning point now (just hope it's long term not temporary!) Good luck all! AnnieP
oohh! Now there's a thing! If this is Sheila's second thread she'll check, which do you think will be her first? I'm intrigued! Have a good few days Sheila. We'll miss all the tea!
Guest
It'll be whether Lesley and Carl have managed to move onto their farm! No soda yet, but will give it a try later on!
spott
ok, i just had to share this.... for the first time since i started this, i got complemented on my hair... by my accupuncturist she said i must be feeling better cos my hair looks so much better, she didn't know about the no shampoo thing!!! yeah. bicarb of soda is the thing to use. i don't use is more than once a week, to really perk me up. bicarb is one ingredient in baking powder, but there are other things in it as well, like flour, so whereas it appearantly worked i think you would have to do a lot more rinsing. but bicarb works a treat!! Guest
I've just done the bicarbonate of soda. I had lots of very loud squeaks in the shower. Hair feels soft and clean and I was surprised that it appears to have dried for an hour already (and I only got out 5 mins ago). I will report back later when it's dry, but after Spott's story I am very hopeful of wonderful things!

I logged on this morning just to find out!My hair looks better than it has done all my life, no grease, lovely shine & colour. I'm offline for a couple of days now, but this'll be the 2nd thread I check when I return! Sorry, I haven't posted back about my fabulous hair! I used bicarbonate of soda (1tbsp in 1 cup of warm water). It didn't seem to be a paste, but I just poured it on, massaged the top a bit, and rinsed it off. Once it was dry it was so clean and excessively shiny. I am thrilled with it! That was Thursday morning and now on Friday evening, it is still very shiny and clean. It felt a bit dry at first but now it feels much softer.

Sheilaz
It's just astoundingly brilliant! It certainly is! I'm glad the baking soda worked so well for you too, Ginette. Also, for Spott, it's such a good idea. Mine hair's still the best ever in my life 2 days after using it. I will be 5 weeks on Sunday, Ginette too I think. I'm never going to use shampoo! Linda
Does the baking soda really make that much difference? I caved in after being so optimistic at the start as I felt so dirty and greasy.
Sheilaz
Yes! It's amazing. I didn't realise about it until this week...needn't have looked so scraggy for a month! How about having another go? But, don't overdo the bicarb...just the amount stated, and I only poured over the worst bits, top & back.
Aylana
ooo, sounds encouraging. I think i will pick some up today and give it a go as my hair has not been overly grand the past couple of days. I'm on day 17 though and still not tempted to use shampoo!
Guest
How many days is that now Ginette I'm on Day 35 (5 weeks). I realised today that I don't even think about shampoo and conditioner any more. I have forgotten they exist! Only my two teenage daughters use them now. The other 4 of us won't have to pack anything if we go away! Sheila said: Well, except some vinegar, oatmeal & bicarb! Guest
Well done Aylana. It would seem that the fifth week (28 days+) is another greasy patch, like the second week. That would be a good time try the bicarb. You can't do it too often, so make sure it's the right time!
Guest
How many days is that now Ginette The other 4 of us won't have to pack anything! Well, except some vinegar, oatmeal & bicarb! This isn't all of my posting and I didn't put on the bit about vinegar, oatmeal and bicarb. I suspect someone has edited my post by mistake, thinking they were quoting it. Sheilaz
oops, yes, Ginette, somebody did do exactly that, sorry! I went to quote you but must have pressed edit, and didn't even notice what I'd done. Apologies, I'm really dopey today, so I don't even know what to do about it in case I do something terrible. Except say, sorry I lost your post & then made up a new one!
