Right Girls - Hair washing and not doing it with shampoo

Recommended Posts

Oh no Ginette so sorry to hear you are not 100%

I will swap with you I would quite like some hot today :?

I feel really greasy today and would have rinsed but I have to put my hair up into a cap for most of the day so it didn't feel like there is any point today but I will probably do it tonight

I am thinking of another bicarb as I have friends coming over on Saturday and I don't want to feel unwashed I am heading into week 7 now and it is starting to get to me a bit I have just taken longer to get here

BUT I AM NOT GIVING UP

Well done Louise. You have been really lucky so far. I hope the second bicarb works for you. :)

I'll happily swap with you. It's threatening to be 26 degrees here and I really don't like it! At least my car has really good air con - I can sit in that if it gets too bad! :) How cool is it with you? 8)

My car has fab air conditioning too (when the roof is down)

I may wait until Saturday morning before I do the bicarb so it is at its best but I have to rinse tonight as it feels horrid today

Thanks, Anne! DD1 is my darling daughter number 1 (I have three darling daughters!).

You didn't say how your hair is doing. I think you reach the magical 8 weeks tomorrow and we're all counting on you for some very good news!:?:) It sounds as if you are not entirely happy. At least in this hot weather we can s"Ooops, word censored!"e our hair back and up and forget about it! It's 25 degrees here!

Wow....Ginette, that must keep you busy and poor, if mine are anything to go by

I didn't mention my hair because i still don't like it very much and i didn't want to sound depressed, i didn't want it to rub off on you all :)

I should really oatmeal but i feel disheartened at the moment. I'll go and do it now :)

This is a good place to share your disgruntlement! We all feel much the same, even Louise now! It is really comforting to know you're not the only one struggling with less-than-perfect or even rather awful hair!

In fact I would rather hear about the bad days than have someone bragging about the good days! If we only reported good days, the rest of us wouldn't know there were bad days. though of course, news of good days is always an inspiration and an incentive to hope for better things. :)

I didn't mention my darling son, who's the last on the list! And yes they are expensive - I pay well over £1000 a term on all the music, dancing and acting lessons! It's at it's worst right now with all 4 doing extra-curricula activities. The eldest should be off to university in a year's time - don't know if that'll make things cheaper or more expensive! :?

:) I was worried that I'd been far too depressed about mine over the last fortnight, so the fact that I've been pleased with it for 2 whole days now should fill you with hope. In fact, I received a 3rd compliment today, retrospectively for yesterday! A work colleague commented how lovely I'd looked in my purple top tyesterday. Well, I've worn that old top heaps of times to work, so I'm sure it was the bouncy hair, giving a better than usual impression.

OK, I'm not bragging! It's about time after 7+ weeks, and I felt at my lowest last week. Please pick up the pieces if it all goes awry tomorrow!

I'm really pleased for you Sheila. :D:D:D You know I've been concerned about you! Well done for getting through your 'sticky' patch!

I have just brushed my hair and although there is a whiteish hue of oatmeal, it looks clean. I am wondering what to do tomorrow when it should be rinsing day. I don't think I need vinegar really but probably by Saturday it will look greasy again. Maybe I should leave it until it needs doing?

I wondered about using a beaten egg instead. Eggs are apparently slightly alkaline but not as much as vinegar or lemon juice. An egg might give it nourishment and a healthy shine. Once again I am really nervous of trying it! Silly of me, really. I need some hindsight now to tell me what to do!

..... Eggs are apparently slightly alkaline but not as much as vinegar or lemon juice.....

:? I thought vinegar was acidic and bicarb. alkaline, which is why I couldn't decide which I needed at what time.

But, Ginette, the whole rinsing idea is such a muddle isn't it? I can't bear the thought of not using water at least once a week, preferably twice. But, at those times it always comes out worse after rinsing, then I wish I'd left it.

I don't know anything anymore! :?

I don't know anything either, especially with this migraine! I need to go to bed and get some decent sleep!

I am totally confused about acids and alkalines now. I could ask OH but can't be bothered! I don't really care anymore! :?

What do you think of the eggs idea? Is that totally mad? (when we're only being partially mad!)

I don't know what to do tomorrow. I might just leave it and do it on Saturday instead when it may be more in need of an acidic or alkaline rinse! Whatever :!::shock:

I've started using egg on my hair and it's great.........it's a really good conditioner as it's full of protein and makes your hair really shiny and soft. Just rinse it out really well and use cool water otherwise you'll have scrambled egg in your hair

Hi all.....still here and much more cheerful today.I've also got that oatmeal grey hue  but it does feel much cleaner :) . I have a stupid confession to make. Last weekend i also thought i'd try egg, but i mixed it with honey  .After walking around the garden for half an hour , complete with sticky head  , I went for a sauna and shower. I completely forgot about the need to keep it cool, infact i had forgoten any egg was involved  . Later the evening (whilst eating my chinese takeaway) my hair was now drying, i began to notice strings of cooked egg amongst my hair  . The more it dried and the more i looked, more and more egg apeared. So i spent the rest of my night picking what looked like my chinese out of my hair and rewashing IT :!:

So girls if trying the egg treatment, don't be thick, remember you've but it on

 Priceless, Anne! So, not too warm for washing out egg, but presumably hotter for honey? I'm scared to use honey, was that part OK?

Ingredients; Bicarbonate of Soda

Oatmeal

Egg

Vinegar

Honey

Lemon

Mmmmmm....

I tried honey last week too..on it's own with no egg. Left it for half an hour then washed it off. It's very very sticky and can drip everywhere so i recommend wrapping your head in clingfilm or put shower cap on. It washes out very very easily.......prob best on cool temp as that's what is best for hair anyway but it's also very good for making your hair soft and shiny. It also lightens your hair so it's not always recommended for dark hair. If you do have dark hair then molasses is very good as it enhances the colour too.

I have to say egg is just as effective and much less hassle. :D

8 weeks today! 8):P

I have to report a good week. My hair is not at all greasy! :D I rinsed in vinegar and lemon last Monday, oatmealed on Wednesday and have done NOTHING since. Although my head feels a bit itchy and wants a wash, my hair still looks fine. I think I'm on the home stretch! :D

I really wanted to report the above because sadly, this may be my last relevant post for a while. :( I really have to put some colour on my hair and whilst I am hoping for a temporary hitch, I realise this is going to put me back a bit. Because I didn't really plan to do this, just 'fell' into it really, I haven't had my hair cut and I hadn't coloured it before starting. I have been holding on for a month now and really feel it's got to be done. Logically thinking, if I managed another month, then just as everything was completely settled down I would be mucking it up again, so I'm going to do it now. I feel really miserable about it and still unsure, but I am going to do it. I hope you don't all feel I've let you down! :(

So I haven't done the egg, although I definitely would have been trying it today. I'm thinking it might be very useful later in the week after I have put all these chemicals on my hair. It might replenish the hair a bit.

How are you all doing? I am wondering if other people are feeling the grease has gone or is much less. :)

I didn't do either the egg or the bicarb on saturday I just rinsed and it looked really good it is still looking pretty good today :? My guests didn't notice but I ended up telling my pal about it as she is having problems with really dry hair and I think she may be up for trying it 8)

Mine is feeling really good today even the ends are starting to feel a little oily which must mean I am almost there it will be 7 weeks tomorrow
