Mrs Frugal
Yes, I saw the picture and it's absolutely lovely ! There are so many gorgeous chickeny things around at the moment, aren't there. I keep embarrassing poor LSH by rushing off shouting "chicken" in shops when I see something I like! I've had to call a halt to my collecting now as I'm running out of places to put them!! However, as soon as the Mark3 arrives on the scene, I'll start collecting real chickens again !

Cinnamon
I saw some really nice chickeny things in Reading yesterday. They were little folky looking tin hens, all painted in lovely earthy colours, with a wire to hang on door k"Ooops, word censored!"s or wherever. I DID manage to resist as the only one left in "my" colours was a bit scratched But,they may have more in next week,& I will just HAVE to have one (they are £3.50)
Mrs Frugal
Well, what more excuse do you need then Sarah. They are an absolute bargain and won't take up much room hanging on door handles ! Have a good day Buffie! Hope you have a good time in Maidenhead ! Off to bake Yorkshire teacakes and bread rolls now! That should keep me busy ! kazaddress
kate... i can recomend what i do for a tree - florest oasis - pretty curly twigs from the garden - nice glass vase - sugar coated chocolate eggs 1. lay the oasis into the bottom of the clean vase 2. stick the twigs into the oases, keeping the tall ones for the middle and gradually get smaller as you move out. 3. pour the sugar coated eggs in to fill the vase up (you might need to test a few 4. decorated the tree with decorated eggs.. and small budles of sugar coated eggs wrapped in gingham and tied up with ribbon. good thing about it is.. the sticks can me chucked away, and the vase can be re-used.. so all you need to store it the decorated eggs (unless you use chocolate ones)
kazaddress
ps.. if you are feeling really adventurous... lay the twigs onto newspaper first and paint them white / blue or pink
Mrs Frugal
Thanks Kaz! Much cheaper than the ready made one and I like the idea of it being disposable too! I do a twiggy thing at Christmas with fake berries stuck on which gets dismantled and the twigs get thrown away but I've not done anything like it for easter yet. I've got loads of shimmery paper in different colours for card making so I'm going to have a go at making coloured chickens and eggs to hang on twigs out of it. Hee hee, now I've saved all that money, I can spend it on something else !
Cate in NZ
TK Maxx had some lovely chicken decorations yesterday, painted enamel, probably about 18" tall, cost £9.99 . Fortunately daughter was with me at the time, ever practical she had several ideas for what to do with £10, if I felt the urge to "waste" it on chickeny decorations I might trot back there after Easter though, if they reduce them then they will be truly irresistable. Especially if I leave daughter at home on that shopping trip
Cate in NZ
Just got back from a trip to Hobbycraft (daughter has to make a mask for homework.... some art/ drama thing.... and needed paints and feathers and glue etc. Personally I couldn't understand it when she went to my suggestion that the chickens might volunteer some feathers and save me some cash Anyway I have to reort that our local Hobbycraft is selling a craft kit called "Hen Bank" for £1.97. It consists of a ceramic chicken shaped piggy bank plus paints and a brush. I ended up succumbing and buying daughter one....... oh, and one for son, but since I can't see him doing it I might just find myself obliged to have a go If only I had a digital camera I'd take a photo, because they look quite good..... and such good value too
