DiamondsEggs
I've just bought The beginners incubator, The R-Com 3 that holds 3 eggs and is easy for kids to use Very convinient For Me. Anyway we put these 3 eggs in, and After candling them on the 12th day Only One Actually had a Chick inside, with all the veins In. It was supposed to hatch yesterday, I'm not sure if i can hear a Tapping inside, or whether I'm Imagining it... Its been growing, so it hasn't died, unless its died within the past 36 hours. It there nothing more I Can Do, Only Wait And Hope?
bronze
Did you up the humidity in the last few days? If its not humid enough the chick won't be able to get out.
DiamondsEggs
I've Been checking the Humidity, everything Seems to be in order. Maybe The Chicks Died But like i said it has been growing. The Humidity is right, We haven't been handling it much really, but its The Auto egg turn incubator So we haven't damaged the egg... I Suppose Its just the case of Wait To See what happens, But if anyone Else has any other information, Since this is our first time with Incubating eggs I Need as much help And info As Possible Thankyou xx
Lindy Loo
I had one of these incubators last year. Very excitedly I put 3 eggs in the incubator and 3 under a broody hen. The 3 under then hen hatched but the 3 in the incubator did not. I gave them an extra week before taking the eggs out. When I opened the eggs all three chicks were fully formed so I gave the company (Brinsea, I think) a call. I explained what had happened and the lady I spoke to said that it was probably a case of the humidity level not being correct. As this was an "idiot proof" incubator, ie with auto turning and supposedly self regulating humidity I took the incubator back and got a refund.javascript:emoticon('') Sorry, my experience wasn't any more rewarding/successful than yours! Egluntyne
Have you got a brooder at the ready for the chick? Also..have you thought about your options should the chick turn out to be a cockerel?.
DiamondsEggs
Thanks Lindy... I'll Consider That If thats what Happens, and Yes I Have And If It Actually Does Hatch! Then If Its A Rooster We Are Keeping It... I Don't See WHy Not. We Have A Brooder Ready But The Thing It The Fact Everything seems to be Okay When No Chick Has Appeared... feemcg
I've heard a lot of bad reports about these incies I'm afraid . If you can hear tapping or cheeping then obviously it's a good sign. If it does hatch are you going to try and find another day old chick to keep it company? It's not very fair to keep a lone chick so most people get another as they need company (that's another reason the 3-egg incubators come under criticism - you've got more chance of hatching only 1 )
