Laura & CTB
Amazing how quick they go from macho man to chicken cuddler isnt it? He'll be out there reading them bedtime stories next
Eyren
My husband was definitely more upset than I was when our Speckledy hen died earlier this year. I get upset when they're in distress, but afterwards I'm just relieved it's all over for them. Men They're all basically just big softies trying hard to be macho... Egluntyne
Mine had never cuddled one....but they have gone from being "your bl***y hens" to "our hens". That is progress....believe me!
chelsea
my idea to get chooks, months of pestering him to get an eglu. Now its his idea to do hen parties, his idea to get a cube, his idea for hot water bottles!!
superjules
Mine had never cuddled one....but they have gone from being "your bl***y hens" to "our hens". That is progress....believe me! Mine's the same, although he did build a walk-in run for them so that he could have the rest of the garden back!! I don't want his hard work to go to waste so I've been filling it with new chooks!! clucky1
One of mine went missing before (my chicken - not the husband) My hubby was out there in the cold and dark in his dressing-gown - torch in hand. He looked VERY masterful when he found her.
kiwichick
Every single night OH asks me whether I've put the chooks to bed, then goes out to check that the doors are shut properly and to remove the grub & glug (have to do that cos of the b*****y raccoons), and he's done this from the day we got them despite being highly skeptical about the whole chicken business. When we adopted our cat it was the same story re: the feeding, grooming, etc I don't know why they even bother putting up such a fuss in the first place but I love the way they come round
Eyren
After I told my LSH last night about my plan to get a couple more bantams, he was quiet for a while and then said thoughfully, "I like chickens". (Though it could just have been the rum talking!)

Eyren
Bless him - give him more rum and take him to Thorne's! I'd better do it the other way round - I don't drive, so I need him sober!
Mrs Webmuppet
Mr WM was rather sceptical about the whole chicken thing.......He admitted yesterday that tey are quite interesting and has even helped with the cleaning out etc! he has even been known to pop out and give his chicken a cuddle. My neighbours popped over yesterday to visit the chickens and are taken with the idea of chicken keeping.........pointed them in the direction of the Omlet website and offered to lend our book to them........it's infectious.... moomin
We have gone from 2 chickens to 4!! (I'm now running out of ideas to get him up to six but I'm sure I'll think of something as have a few weeks to go yet!). He has taken me to two places to see chickens so far, one of which was cold and freezing fields and we were knee deep in mud! And it still hasn't put him off bless him. xScrunchee
My OH pays no attention to the girls really He says that they are just chickens and that he likes the eggs but has no real opinion of the hens themselves. Then I hear him telling people that 'WE' have hens and how the fresh eggs are brilliant etc etc. He sounds all proud and enjoys telling people yet they are 'just chickens' the rest of the time
