Imo
I don't want to sound like a broken record going over and over this again It just seems as if we're back to square one with Queeny and Vivienne. She's still pecking at her, though I suppose it isn't so sustained, and Queenie's confidence has grown in that she doesn't cower away for long, and is usually about in the run. She's got a very full crop, and is obviously eating and showing no signs of being too bothered, but I keep such a close eye on them. No blood has been drawn, so I suppose I shouldn't worry too much Vivienne can't even peck feathers out, because of her beak [she only has half of her top beak... which, according to what I read earlier, is because someone cruelly removed it before we bought her ] The squirting water at Vivienne has worked - Vivienne won't even dare to go near Queenie when I'm outside... but when I'm not looking, or indoors, there's fights. Sorry to keep going on - it's just so frustrating, even though it's only been a week. I just hope I haven't done more harm than good
koo2cat
I have had a terrible day with my hens. My Gingernut has pecked a gaping hole in one of my pepperpots back! We have separated the injured chicken and she is now hopefully asleep in the cat carry case! The others are in the cube. I am now wondering if keeping her separate is the right thing to do incase she gets bullied more when I put her back with the other 3. I am going to order some antipeck spray tomorrow and hope that helps! Such a worry - won't sleep tonight. My daughter has a cold and I am more worried about the bloomin chicken! cluckbok
Hi ya, Have you guys tried the bumper bits that go on their beaks? Apparently meant to stop all that. I personally been lucky so far but I sure some people on this forum have used them successfully. May be worth trying to find out more info on them. Sorry cannot help further. I hope they settle down soon.
Egluntyne
You could also try Anti peck spray. Things generally settle down after about three weeks.
