New run at last!

Recommended Posts

My new run was delivered (by the infamous Tony) late Easter Monday but the OH just finsihed it tonight because he had to level the ground etc. He still needs to put the perches in but you'll get the gist.

I can't post pics IE keeps crashing when I try and resize and they are truly enormous :cry:

That looks really good! I see you've got him to do quite a lot of modifications, did that add much to the cost? Sorry to be nosey but we are thinking of ordering one from him, he won't deliver to us but we are going to get it couriered down, won't be for a few weeks though - saving up! :(

No it didn't cost much extra. I'm sure it's not much more than the cost of the extra wood. Well that's what it seemed but I never had a basic price to compare to. The grand total was £525 which included delivery but not construction. He would only have charged an extra £35 to put it together. Given how long it took the OH would have been worth paying but we would never have been ready enough for someone else to do it.

Shirl, thanks for the info.

I think that's really reasonable. It's a big run, and with lots of extra bits and bobs. I wouldn't mind going inside to collect the eggs, but what I wanted on mine was a flap at the back so you can open it and get to the poo tray. Would mean I haven't got to go in and swivel the Eglu round each time (haven't got it yet so don't know how heavy they are!!).

I would also like a raised platform for the Eglu to go on, but guess my hubby could do that, although he's not a 'natural' with wood I guess it's just like making a table (she says confidently - you have to believe in them don't you??!!). :?

I measured the area today and could fit in a 6' x 12' or a 7' x 12'. I'm excited now :lol::lol::lol:

Eglus aren't heavy but if someone is "busy" on the nest she might not appreciate the ride :lol: . You can always ask what the price willl be with the extras and then work out whether it's worth the effort of doing it yourself (or getting the OH to do it :lol: ).
