Shirl
My new run was delivered (by the infamous Tony) late Easter Monday but the OH just finsihed it tonight because he had to level the ground etc. He still needs to put the perches in but you'll get the gist. I can't post pics IE keeps crashing when I try and resize and they are truly enormous Edited April 4, 2008 by Guest
AJuff
It looks fantastic!!!!!! Lucky you! I'm crying as he isn't able to deliver up North!

IThey're a much better size http://club.omlet.co.uk/gallery/main.php?g2_itemId=26281

Egluntyne
It looks super! What are the dimensions?
Jules.
I like it, especially the door on the back- presumably to get your cube out?
moomin
That looks really good! I see you've got him to do quite a lot of modifications, did that add much to the cost? Sorry to be nosey but we are thinking of ordering one from him, he won't deliver to us but we are going to get it couriered down, won't be for a few weeks though - saving up! MedusA
That looks fantastic, Shirl! I esspecially like the hatch so you can collect the eggs.
Shirl
It looks super! What are the dimensions? 6ft x 15ft and 6ft high (Tony's standard is 5ft 6). We've got 4 bantams and 3 ex batts and I'd say that seems about right.
Shirl
I like it, especially the door on the back- presumably to get your cube out? Yes, it works really well. It means when we jet wash the run won't get soaked.

No it didn't cost much extra. I'm sure it's not much more than the cost of the extra wood. Well that's what it seemed but I never had a basic price to compare to. The grand total was £525 which included delivery but not construction. He would only have charged an extra £35 to put it together. Given how long it took the OH would have been worth paying but we would never have been ready enough for someone else to do it.
Ain't Nobody Here
That's a fantastic run . Love the clever purpose-built doors .
Phosphorus
Wow that run looks brilliant. Don't think DH will like me though if I pop outside and suggest any of your modifications (like the egg port door - love that). He is currently building ours as I type
Shirl
Well I'd like my OH to move the egg port door, because I don't like the cube in the middle, but I think I'd be killed for suggesting it

Shirl, thanks for the info. I think that's really reasonable. It's a big run, and with lots of extra bits and bobs. I wouldn't mind going inside to collect the eggs, but what I wanted on mine was a flap at the back so you can open it and get to the poo tray. Would mean I haven't got to go in and swivel the Eglu round each time (haven't got it yet so don't know how heavy they are!!). I would also like a raised platform for the Eglu to go on, but guess my hubby could do that, although he's not a 'natural' with wood I guess it's just like making a table (she says confidently - you have to believe in them don't you??!!). I measured the area today and could fit in a 6' x 12' or a 7' x 12'. I'm excited now
Shirl
Eglus aren't heavy but if someone is "busy" on the nest she might not appreciate the ride . You can always ask what the price willl be with the extras and then work out whether it's worth the effort of doing it yourself (or getting the OH to do it ). moomin
That's a good idea, I might ask for the basic price then, and for the 'enhanced' version. Then make my mind up. Thanks Shirl that's very helpful
