4m x 3m Omlet pen, cube, new auto door still boxed and coop light

Was wondering what time chickens went to bed around the country mine have just put themselves to bed 8.20 - 10 mins later than last night (very clever ex batts) we are west coast of Scotland. What happens on the longest day? Do they go to sleep at all?

mine have been going to bed at roughly 8pm too, its taken them three weeks to do it though, i had to go out there and physically place them through the hutch door at first , the relief when they finally did it themselves was great

If mine have been in the run all time-about 8.00pm,but they seem to knacker themselves out while freeranging round the garden and go to roost at just gone 7.00pm.

Mine were going about 7.20pm when we changed the clocks, yesterday for some reason they went to bed at 6.30! today was 7.10, think they do wear themselves out free ranging.

My bantams always go to bed early. The big ones stay up it's just dark enough for the solar lights to come on.

My new babies take themselves to bed at about 6.30pm when it is still light, but my big girls are up until well after 8pm now.

Same here 8ish today. They always manage to toddle off to bed about 10 mins before the light fades.

 

I often look out when it's light and see them toddle off to bed and think to myself, why are they going to bed when it's light...... then 10 mins later I look out again to a gloomy, darkened garden.

 

How DO they do that ...... clever things.

I was digging in the garden and I noticed it was getting dark. It was 8.20

I made the girls porridge and when I went out to give it to them they came running out again.

I'm sure they hang around waiting for porridge.

Should I not give it every night? and should I give it them earlier.

I use about 3 teaspoons of oats, some dried fruit and chicken spice.

mine usually get something to eat about 3-4 but yesterday was 6 lol they lept at the bowl.

Mine are off to bed about 7.30 ish at dusk usually.

I give mine their treat as soon as i get back from work about half 6 or if i'm home about 4 x

My four go to bed about 7.15 - Kay, Nan and Edwina go up together and leave Caroline in the run. She usually pecks about for another five minutes - surveys "her" kingdom and then joins them.

 

The two gingernuts sit down at the back and the two Pepperpots stand over them as if they are guarding them.

 

As soon as I close the door all sorts of racket, clucking and squawking noises start. Goodness knows what they do!!!

Mine get their supper at about 5:30 and go off to bed at about half 7 now, though they were earlier lastnight. Poor Bobbins, I think, gets tired before the others and keeps going in and shouting them and then comes back out to try and round them up when they don't follow her.

Although they hear the door and come popping out just to see if they can charm any more treats from us.

mine are going between 8 and 8.30 up here in Manchester - ran downstairs during Holby to shut their door last night !
