Paola
Help… I am getting into the swing of the forum but am having no luck with the avatar. The moderators all seem to have great ones. I have had a browse on the web, but nothing tickles my fancy. Sorry for the boring topic.
AnnieP
Hi there Paola. It took me ages to find mine. You have to type in some pretty obscure searches. I presume you are searching on Google images, or something similar?
Mrs Frugal
Grahams and mine are unique, I'm afraid. Have a look on Google images for something which tickles your fancy or do an internet search for animated gifs if you want something which moves. If you have any trouble uploading one, have a look at the help topic here and if that doesn't work, PM me and I'll see if I can help. Martin B
I gave up, but decided to have one last look and then found big bird!
buffie
Thank you. I have been on google but will have another ferret around. Try having a chicken around if you want something to reflect your girls! Sad sorry BBx
Mrs Frugal
It doesn't have to be chickeny. I had a lady washing up as my second avatar and that was me to a tee! Always up to my armpits in soapy bubbles! I also had a many eyed alien with big pants on at one point so it could be anything you're interested in - even a ferret . Nicola H
Paola you could always go on another forum such as Practical Poultry and pinch somebody elses just copy and paste it into your profile I have to admit that is were mine came from............Although it did disappear for a while. motherhen
Some of us have used photos of our girls - or in my case some girls I hatched back in the '80s You just need to make sure your photo is the right size and number of pixels and then put it on photobucket or similar so it has a url. Jacky
I think i must be totaly thick because i really can't even work out how you add an avatar, let alone find one. Do i need to find an approperate piccy first on the net save it to my PC then add it from there
Mrs Frugal
You can or you can link to an offsite avatar by pasting in the url of the site you've chosen one from. One word of warning though, it mustn't be larger than 80 x 80 pixels. It's probably easier to save a picture you like to your own computer and upload it from there. This is useful in case the one you've linked to disappears for any reason!! There's a help guide to uploading one in the Need Help Using the Forum topic which is a sticky further up the list in the Nesting Box or in most other topics. Mrs Blue Sky
I managed to follow Kate's instructions successfully to upload my avatar, despite being a total der-brain (according to my daughter). The problem I was having was the size of the image - must be less than 80 by 80 pixies. So go for it!

Cate in NZ
Yes, go for it COAM and Jacky..... it's all a matter of finding a nice image, doesn't matter if it's chickeny or not, just something that suits you and your personality or interests. I think most of us have worked our way through a few until we found something that we really liked. If you find an image (on Google images, or even a photo of your own) you can then save it to your computer and upload it from there. The pixel size thing stumped me a bit I admit, you need a small image 80x80, and I have no idea about how to reduce sizes I'm afraid. Good luck with it. If you run into difficulty just post again and someone will try to help out
