I was surprised when I went out past dusk to see if they were all tucked up and found the two bossiest ones still wandering around. Usually they are the ones up the ladder first. It was a mostly sunny day here for a welcome change and they had quite a few treats (including the introduction of a dustbath which they ate rather than used).

I guess we all have days that are so nice you don't wnat them to end... :D

went out to lock them in run/eglu at 8.40 - they were in (as usual) until they here the back door and it is a race to see who gets to the run door first me or them - either I lock them in or they manage to escape - same every night.

It was possible to go and shut the hens away at 8.15pm last week, but that has advanced to 8.35pm this week. I reckon to add on about twenty minutes a week to their bedtime until midsummer's day (24 June: only a month away now!)

I find if I go out on spec they are always up, so it is easier to have this formula.
